Default Front RS Swaybar and droplinks on a C4 ??

I want to change the swaybars on my C4. The rear is peace of cake but up front it seems to be more complicated.

Are there any rennlisters who have installed the front RS setup with droplinks on a C4 ?? I'm fairly sure the bar will fit .It is the droplinks that make me uncertain.

I have heard this is possible.. but those who have done it say it is much easier with the struts removed. I am contemplating the same, but I am going to do it when I do my H&R Greens at the same time.

I was given to believe that the RS drop links are straight and will not clear the C4's front drive shafts. I haven't seen for myself so I may be wrong but the information came from someone who ought to know.

Regards

Dave

A long time ago we looked into this for a customer after we turbocharged his engine and he wanted to dial out understeer. In the end we did not fit the RS bars because the front c4 droplinks would not fit the RS bar and the rear RS bar was too small a diameter, so we opted for the simple approach and fitted a larger diameter rear bar from a 964 turbo which only required small spacers making for the droplinks because the bar was slightly wider. The larger diameter rear bar achieved the objective of reducing understeer and the car was a hoot to drive with its complementing H&R/Bilstein suspension and 450hp.....

bumping an old thread -

Colin -if you see this -

did you leave the stock C4 sway on the front and only increase the rear?

I'm looking to increase the front and rear sways in my C4, and am unsure if the stock front drop links can handle the stiffness of the H&R swaybars.

Thoughts? who has the H&R bars on a C4 front and rear - how does it feel? Balanced?

I have them, on hard setting front and rear, with (new standard DLs)

Car is running at more or less RS ride height, and corners very flat

They are the best upgrade I have made to the car

now, i`ve H&R in the front and an RS sway in the rear. I came from H&R front/rear. Reason for changing rear sway to the "smaller" RS one was the fittment of the euro-RS coils... The rear rs springs are quite stiff, so the car was quite tail-happy and i`d to stablize the rear...

Only using H&Rs front/rear, together with the H&R greens, the car was good, but my dampers were overloaded and the handling on bumpy roads not that perfect. On flat streets, it was quite good!

mine were swapped out last week. my set up is standard drop links, H&R sways and silvers coilovers. Mine went in okay but they had to drop the suspension to get the sway bars.

For a road car it may be over kill but it handles as if its on rails.

Im probably going to swap out standard drop links for Tarret numbers but am in no rush to do so. Next years jobs I think.

I'm really curious why no one has made an stronger front swaybar link for the C4. I imagine because the demand is low....but is it necessary, is what I'm getting at. Does the stock link flex too much? Is the ball joint strong enough? Etc...

I doubt they flex at all, they are massively over engineered for the task, being much more substantial than the thin piece used on the C2, or even the RS
