Default Vin number location

Dear

I know you can find the vin number on:

Sticker on inside of the left door
Sticker on the inside of the front hood
Alu plates on the front left inside luggage compartiment...

.... but on a 964 model, where is the vin number stamped into the body?

Anyone??

Regards
Turbo

Lift the trunk carpet and you'll see it stamped just below the fuel tank.

In addition to the stamps, I have vin stickers on most, if not all, of my body panels.

Are you in the UK or Europe? If so, the glass won't be marked with the VIN, nor most panels.

That was most likely done for theft prevention. Insurance companies do/did give discounts for that. I doubt that is OEM.

1994 USA 964's have VIN stickers on all body panels and even the tranny - 1991 and 1992's don't have the fancy stickers; they have just the door jamb VIN plate, windshield plate, hood sticker, and gas tank plate.

Correct.

This was only for the 1994 models. This was done to meet US requirements for cars not equipped with Alarms. Since the 1994 Speedster did not have an alarm standard, Porsche was required to do this on all their cars.

There is a TSB about this.

So turbo I am assuming you have a 94 turbo? What color and I am assuming your in the US.
