Probably the heaviest thing that I removed from my C2 when I was prepping it for club racing was the electric seats. Replaced them with lightweight racing seats. I drove to Denver in my Recaro SPG, won my class (was lucky), drove to Parade and back again. Super comfortable. The following year, I upgraded the suspension and drove to San Antonio for the Parade-not so comfortable. Harsher suspension had me stopping every hour to stretch and walk around.

Replacing the carpeting with RS and removing the sound deadening. Exhaust system was another biggie. Took it all out and replaced it with a B&B system that had heat. Huge weight loss. Don't think the manual/dealer guide weighs more than 2lbs. Although, if I took all the reciepts for parts, work and tires I've dumped into the car, definitely more than 20lbs

Hmmm... I've given this topic a great deal of thought... Considering that the shadow of my *** weighs 35 lbs., I think I'll start there

Ok, been checking this thread and I just had to chuckle at Springer's weight saving ideas.
Today I even clipped my toenails...mwhaaaa haaaa ha!

seriously, I think taking out those boat anchor seats and changing out windshield with polycarbonate, maybe a carbon fiber hood/lid will save a great deal of weight without making your car too primitive to drive comfortably. Also, If you don't track seriously and just want to have or know you have a killer, well sort out fast car I don't see a major problem having a cab......then again, I"m biased! Hey, you can always transplant a twin turbo back there!
