Default Restyle my 964

Hey all, this is my first post on this amazing forum. I want to restye my Porsche 964 Targa which I bought last year. It need some minor repairs (oil leakage, electrical errors) and I want to spray it black.
Need some advice people! Thought of making it look "used new" and stylish but don't know where to start. What are the must haves?
i.e I don't like the orange front indicators but the white version doesn't do it for me as well. Anyone an idea to make them smaller?
Many greetings,

Tommie

Many owners of early 964s replace the flag mirrors with tear-drop mirrors used from 1992 on. Be cautious with major styling changes. They get expensive, and can lower resale value.

I looks like you already have a custom rear deck. The side markers on the fenders make me think this is not a US-spec 964. Do you know where it was originally delivered?

Am curious, why did you buy a 964 if you don't like the way it looks? I think most people on here will tell you to leave it alone as it already looks great!

I have a targa and have decided against the teardrop mirrors as I think the originals suit the targa profile. On a coupe, the classic roofline suits the teardrops better.
Orange indicators stand like a sore thumb on your dark car, and whites would be much more harmonious.
Lowering would definitely help the looks too.

Well, it's not that I don't like the looks. I love it, thought I could personalise it a bit however. As an answer to Springer3: it is an European car, I don't know if the rear deck has been replaced. It doesnt go automatically in anymore.

You could replace the fog lights with vents. They are made both with and without smaller fog lights:

You could do this with either the orange or clear turn indicators.

It is original. You should either fix it or unplug the controller. Bad electrical components are a minor fire hazard, and can cause battery drain.

I've also reversed the wipers (i.e put the left arm on the right side and vice versa)... They actually seem to fit the windscreen a lot better!!!)

Good write-up. Did it make it into the DIY section?

Hey Marc Shaw, thanks for your reply! What do you mean with clear corners? And what about the fix smile? You mean mine after the work is done? :-)

I ll attach a very bad pic here, but i was also thinking of installing a third break light, like the 993. Is that possible with the 964? What do you think of that?

KB964Cabrio - Assume yours is RHD? Did you just swap the arms around (i.e. are you implying they are different lengths) or did you do the conversion as explained in the thread be tbennett?

I've often thought that the passenger seems to get a better sweep and clarity than I do! So interesting if this mod works and improves vision - I hate driving in the rain! Especially at night because oncoming headlights seem to be just at the right level to beam straight into my eyes, coupled with the poor removal or water!!

Marc

What do silver badges look like (apart for the obvious!!) as I've not seen them around. Are they completely silver or are they silver with a coloured crest?
