Apparently you have to remove the exhaust system to adjust valves in the 964, my mechanic is having a huge trouble loosening the bolts of the exhaust pipes because it hasn`t been done in a long time.
Is it possible to adjust valves any other way?
I have to add that my mechanic is a well known independent Porsche specialist that has been servicing 911s and other Porsche models for 25 years, he should know better but I still wonder

The bolts holding the cat convert sometimes rust and need to be torched off especially if the car hasn't have a valve adjust in awhile or was driven in a damp climate or during winter. This is why the valve adjust kit comes with new exhaust bolts and gaskets. The exhaust clamp bolts also need to be replaced sometimes and you can buy them from Porsche.
