The r valve kicks in at a high rpm , iirc .
At start up and or at idle , it does nothing , I think .
If it was non working , at the rpm where its meant to do its thing , nothing would happen , no bump up .
"Yes, I would agree, It can't backfire without a spark."
So then is it a very intermittent spark or is the fuel air ratio messed up ?
Or is some other thing altogether ?
Would you be having an old induction type timing light ?

I don't have a timing light. I also don't think that the timing is off. Something is preventing the car from getting spark. According to the technical data book & Adrians book, the car won't start with the 'resonance valve' open. Here is a picture of the part that is making the buzzing noise.

An interesting thought, I had the DME out of the car, and it cranked just like it did with the DME in the car with the lone exception being that the brief buzzing noise... I am wondering if the DME is being 'seen' by the car... I just can't get away from the fact that the car was running before the DME was removed, and has not since that time.

Try using the hammer to drive some test links. I expect the DME must be used to get the injectors to click open, the resonance valve to click open, read the CHT, etc, etc.
That may tell you if the DME is in-line, or not.

VALIDATED:
The hammer reads the same codes, with, or without, the DME installed to the wiring harness.

Also, the bang I hear the first time I put the ingition in the 'on' position, doesn't happen just when cranking, it happens just by putting the key in that on position. Also, it only happens when the key has not been put in that position or the car cranked for a period of time.

clearly there has been some modification of the harness, I am assuming this was done because the airbags were removed from the car. Now I feel really lost as I don't have a clue what to do.
When this valve is disconnected that buzzing noise is not present...

I did NOT say your timing needed to be checked .
Its a tool to see if you ever have a spark .
You put it on the coil wire and crank .
Watch for any flashes from said tool .
Just a tool to do a test , thats all .

yeah it is. Not sure what it is to be honest. But it doesn't have the pitch of a backfire now that I think of it.
with respect to the wiring diagrams I have, I don't think they cover the DME. I will recheck them.
with respect to who sees who, DME or car, regardless, the car acts the same with or without DME and the hammer doesn't see any systems that it would see if the DME were visable.
