Hi Steve, how is your restoration project going? I haven't seen pictures lately...
I'll get some additional pictures as the project progresses. I'm hopeful that we'll have the engine and gearbox in the car and running early next week.

Geoffery,
I finally got the Cup Shocks back from Bilstein and had them revalved
back to Cup Specification. The Pistons were bent and had to be replaced.
I had a machinest make the rear upper spring hats that I could not find.
I am back to work on the project this weekend!
Here is a picture of the rear shocks....

I was able to buy some 996 spring hats and modify them slightly rather than having them made from scratch.
Rob, The front tow hook mounts in from the front of the tub and is bolted in from inside the trunk. There are a number of ways you can go about making one. One option is to simply purchase a threaded U-bolt from Home Depot and welding it to a piece of flat stock and bolting the flat stock from inside the trunk. This is what I did on my race car. The other option will be to get some tubing, bore the inside, thread it and then bend it in the shap of the toe hook and bolt it through like the factory.

gotcha - since all of the panels in the front of my trunk are new - i was hoping i could get some photos to help me locate it on the tub. I do have my old one to use as a template (not much to it really, it is even cruder than the ones you describe , but it is the orignal one so i am planning on duping it)
thanks

Charlie, I'm confident the hood rule will pass since I submitted it and have had subsequent conversations with Donna. There is no competitive advantage of the Getty hood as long as the flat hood like on my car is not used.

Thanks for the offer if i could get one with the bumper on just so i can eye ball locate it that would be great (it's been 5 years since i saw mine in one peice)- i was hoping that i could also get a shot of the mounting to the tub w/ the bumper off (which unless you have it off already is a pain ) i can probably figure it out though

The RS alluminum front hubs are still available from Porsche. I just had a set installed on my cup to replace the one I blew up 2 weeks ago at lime rock. I was expecting to get only the stock steel 964 hubs ... as earlier in the post someone said they are no longer available .... so i was suprised when they had exactly the same part number that came on my car. As supplied in alluminum and back on the car Just FYI.

Are there any noticeable advantages to the aluminum hubs, or is it just one of those "every little bit helps" kind of things.
