Looking for a 964
I'm looking for a black 964 coupe, 5-speed, with low mileage, good history, good records, flywheel and head gasket problems corrected, and good body and paint. I've been looking here, and at Autotrader and Ebay for weeks with no luck. I've passed on a couple due to price ($26k+) and a couple due to long-term storage concerns. Any advice?

Black is my first choice. Not ready to consider others yet. Low mileage to me is 40-70k, but I'm beginning to think I should consider higher mileage. A good, well maintained, car with more miles may be better than one that's been in storage. A 17 year old car with only 40,000 miles would seem likely to have spent some down time. From what I can tell, low mileage 964s are typically priced in the low to mid 20s. Cars over 100,000 miles are usually 20 or less. Does that sound right?

Scour craigslist, in areas as far away as you're willing to go. Yes, it can occasionally be scam territory, but I'm amazed at the legitimately good deals that have shown up there on P-cars.
"26k doesnt sound bad for what you are asking for" - I strongly agree with this. Fewer and fewer ones left out there in the condition you are describing.
