Default Interesting auction photos: flood damaged 964

I found the pics of this flood damaged 964 interesting:

HERE

The removed wings reveal he placement of all the supply/oil lines, horn etc. I guess a lot of folks on this board are familiar with all that, but it was a revelation to me

This car has a VIN fourteen numbers later than mine. What a sorry fate.

Not to mention I think you finally found the mysterious and often overlooked front fender factory cup holder...I think it was an option on that year...

My guess is they just realized the car is full of hazardous waste and want it off the property before they have to pay to have it disposed of.. If they didn't hack the quarter panels off and just gutted it then at least the body would be good for a race car but not as it sits now... bet it smells N-A-S-T-Y too!

+1. I'm guessing someone needed the rear quarter sheet metal to repair another 964 maybe? Either way, even as a tub, this car now seems to be a very costly option for someone to do anything with, even as track car. And I like the seller pointing out the low mileage. As if that has any relevance to the car's value now...

Surely it is worth pretty much zero without its most valuable asset, the engine?

What a sad site to see. The only advantage was seeing where things are located in the pictures. (Horns, oil lines, etc...)

I never really seen a gutted 911 before.

Default Donor Car

I purchased all the body work from this car to restore my 1992 Cup Car
back to original form. In 1995 I had the body changed to 993 Super Cup
to conform to the IMSA Rules. Gary R. is correct the car smelled terrible!
Trust me you would not want anything inside this car! All the body panels
and bumper were in perfect condition. My contract with the wrecking yard
was to return the car when the part were removed. I was motivated and
returned the car in about a weeks time!

You might remember the car with this body work.

Here is a picture of the 993 Super Cup Body.

Interesting photo - the sun is casting a shadow of the engine grille under the car. Was there no engine in it?

Steve:
I gave a 1/43 rd scale 964 Cup diecast to my dad that has the same color and graphics as your car.

Did anybody get a chance to download the photos from eBay? The listing has been removed. I was planning to keep the pictures as reference for routing and installation inside the fenders.

Carrera51,

This is the original Cup Car from the die-cast model, it was driven by
Sig Amthor and Wolfgang Land. You can see the car in Porsche Sport '94
by Ulrich Upietz (pages 56, 60 and 61).

Wonder why the listing was removed? Thats not a good sign. Ebay usually does that when something was out of compliance with its rules. I run a salvage yard and would never sell something that far wrecked and stripped. Money was made already, let it sit and strip it. Most business' moving cars this far gone are doing so for the VIN plate and title. Just wrong IMHO
