I've seen stories on it. Very nice looking ride. Starts in the $90k's IIRC. Goes about 300 miles between charges. I would be interested if I had the extra dinero's.

been doing some digging on this. apparently, the guy behind this is elon musk, who made his fortune by inventing paypal then selling to ebay for 1.5billionUS. his other current project is developing a private rocket to service the international space station when the space shuttle is retired, plus providing access to orbit for a tenth the cost of current options (ESA, etc) !!
now there's a guy i'd like to sit next to at a dinner party!

Discovery Channel had a special on Future Cars, and the Tesla was featured. It uses lithium ion laptop batteries, hundreds of them.
2 cents per mile must be the energy cost. I doubt that includes battery replacement, tires, or other maintenance costs. 300 miles between charges? Down hill with a tail wind perhaps, but even 150 - 200 in real driving is possible, and 3X - 4X of what was typical on the lead battery cars.
Watch for your local power company to send you an incentive to get a plug-in hybrid or all-electric car. They are desperate for energy sales late at night when most EVs are charged.

There's an article on Tesla on the Top Gear website -http://www.topgear.com/content/featu...ries/11/1.html .
Looks pretty cool - I could be tempted by one of these.

i'm tempted as a collectible investment.
buy it, wrap it, and store it. zero miles. unregistered.
no seals and gaskets to wear out.
maybe 2 grand a year in storage cost.
my kid will sell it at barrett Jackson 2037 for 1.5mm?
