RSA on ebay: unusual color
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=230105595531
Was this a special-order color? I think its Turquoise Metallic. I don't think I've seen it on an RSA before. There is one in that color listed on rsamerica.net. Wonder if its the same car.
Also, look at the photo showing the driver's seat. It looks like someone had slots installed for harness belts. Anyone have any experience doing that? One of my dilemmas is that I'd like to install a harness and bar in my car, but I love the OEM RSA seats and don't want to swap them for racing seats. Of course, I'd also hate to cut slots into the OEM RSA seats....

The seats are F$%# Up!! IMO too much angle for the shoulder belts and don't think the seat was design to work with harness.
Get yourself Recaro Pole Position, your car will look like a real RS.

Yes it was a special order color back then........in Canada we were only allowed to buy the RSA in white/red/black/midnight blue/polar silver......in the US they were allowed the full range of colors.
Because there was only one example sold in that color when it was new, means that at the time there was only one person who liked the color. Makes it tough at resale time.
I cannot believe what someone did to the seats......aarrgghhh.

May be the same car on RSAmerica.net. Did you see this listing for a Turquoise RSA in SC for sale. Its the 5th car down.
Very rare one of a kind color for the RSA.

I thought the only options offered were Sunroof, LSD, AM/FM Cassette and A/C. The ebay ad lists "Power door locks".
Were "Paint to Spec" color choices, available on the RSA too?
School me.

Keith V is the person who is best qualified to "school" just about anyone on the RSAmerica. He is the PCA Advocate for the RSAmerica registry, runs www.rsamerica.net and also is the owner of one of four Ferrari Fly Yellow (interesting story on how the color became to be known as Fly Yellow) RSA's.
One of the other 4 lives about an hour from me.....breathtaking color and car in person.
You are correct on there only being 4 'mechanical' options, there were 2 optional paint colors, Midnight Blue Metallic (my 94 RSA....why did I sell it )and Polar Silver Metallic.
http://www.rsamerica.net/faqs/index.htm
There are some other interesting 'paint to sample' colors, like Maritime Blue:
http://www.rsamerica.net/gallery/warreng_of_ca.htm
And Peru Red:
http://www.rsamerica.net/gallery/markh_of_pa.htm
And of course the Turqoise being discussed here:
http://www.rsamerica.net/gallery/scottc_of_ca.htm
Unfornately, due to the stupid EPA and DOT, RSAmericas were forced to have electric power windows; due to crash test recertification.
Check out Keith's site, it's an excellent place for any information and FAQ's on RSA's.
