Mine are red on top and satin (semi-gloss) black below. I repainted the satin black last summer. I tried three different brands of spray paint and selected the one that matched color and gloss the best.

It appears there is no reasoning or pattern to why some cars have them black and others are body colored. So far Chris and my Amazon green cars have body color and I know of a few turbos that have original factory paint and some are body colored and some are satin black.
I just ordered the new seals for the top edge of the rockers and will remove the panels to replace them. Now the question is what looks better color coded or black? I think I like both.
Opinions?
BTW thanks on the compliments. I do need to change my avatar soon. I will get to it.
Sal, Car looks great, I need some studio pro photos like that myself.

I may be wrong but I thought it was an option from the factory to have body colored rocker panels.

Sal 965,
How did you get the photo of the yellow 911 to look so cool? Wonderful foto. Was it done in a studio? Or is it out of a magazine?

Black.
Kinda like black being "slimming", someone told me a long time ago that having them black makes the car look lower to the ground, I guess because the merging of the rocker, the dark shadow underneath and the black road itself. I'll buy that.

all cats are black in the dark -- only some more so than others...
Keith V. was relaying to me, not so long ago, that,
And one corroborated by most tales, above...
(except for that most-peculiar [& nice!] yellow car.)

oh,yeah -- as noted in earlier posts, bedliner spray makes a dandy rocker panel touch-up.
Just don't let on to anyone later whatcha used. (No small few will upturn nostril.)
a) all the colors of the (stock) RSA group were satin-black on the rocker panels., except for...
b) the Black cars -- which had gloss black on theirs.
I'd say that's a pretty fast & sweeping rule for the 964 series, as a group.b) the Black cars -- which had gloss black on theirs.
