Were these early carbureted 911's prone to engine bay fires? What's the root cause? This about the 3rd one I've seen (including one I saw on the side of I35 in Dallas last year). I remember that the Jaguar XJS's of the mid 70's were very prone to engine fires. Something to do with faulty fuel injection systems...

The biggest problem there is the fire has burned everything and then its been left outside in the rain for it to rust.
I would of at least cleaned it up before sale and taken the photo from the front.
