Somebody stop me.
I'm one phone call away from ruining my new 964 street car. I am about to order all of the body panels to convert the car to a turbo body with a 3.8RS wing. I don't know what it is, but I'm a sucker for turbo bodies and I can't help myself. I know I said I would leave this one alone, but I think it may be too hard for me to do. Maybe if I could just drive my racecar a little it might help...

I just came back from a "spirited" drive around the reservoir and up through Hunter. I forgot how much fun it is to drive these things sideways...But I still want a turbo body.

You and me both
You and me both, but he's my reality, $7,500 for an top end job and other bits and pieces then at least $10,000 to do the conversions ... basically no change from $20(k)..or sell my 94 c-2 cab (100k miles) for $20 ish and go spend $40(k) on a newer wide body.... or just enjoy the c-2 for the great car that it is, .

Jokes aside, I think it will be a real nice project. Where do you get all your body panels? Will it be steel??

You'll get no help from me. I love the widebody 964s! Porsche could've made a real classic if they'd done a widebody non-turbo C2. Now you have to be Geoffrey to get one!

Geoffey,
I was on the net last night looking at widebody kits. I too get the bug about once every four months and spend the evening reading and doing the math. I have considered buying a 91-92 Turbo or a 94 widebody non-turbo. Of course the 94 T is what I really want (don't we all?). I am planing to repaint my car this year and figure it would be the perfect time to do the widebody conversion. Besides the cost of parts and labor my other concern is does the shop know what they are doing.
What kit are you looking at or are you going after OEM body parts? Well, if you have a moment, do you have a list of parts for the conversion. I know the basic stuff like the body fenders, front and rear bumpers, side skirts. What else do you need?
Good luck...

I have a friend with a wrecked 94 3.6 turbo that was stuffed into a wall backwards. It is black and the front along with the rocker wings is fine so I would buy all of those parts from him. That would leave me only rear quarters and a bumper with the turbo supports to buy and an aftermarket tail like is on my racecar. If I were going to do a street car, I would only consider factory steel parts and I would put full quarters on, not the half ones I used on my race car. I also wouldn't use fiberglass parts...but that is just me. You'll probably never get your investment back, however, a nicely done car with factory parts is going to be a plus.
I don't have a list compiled of all of the parts since there are a lot of underbody parts that are different between the narrow body and wide body. Unless you can get a front clip, it will be expensive. The rear isn't too bad since there is really only a few supports to buy and the splash shields. PET will list all of the items you need.
The other alternative would be to get a 94C4 and convert it to a C2 which would be easy enough to do, especially if I wanted to install a 6spd.

Been there done that, and I have the poster on my wall in my office.
