Default 9m launch new 9m64RS Clubsport at Autosport Engineering

The RS Clubsport is back!

Built to customer order, the 9mRS M003 fills the needs of the Porsche enthusiast trackday user who is looking for a new RS Clubsport at la price well below that of a museum piece original. Available in RHD or LHD we have, as far as possible, reproduced Porsche's most popular trackday weapon of choice.

The full specification includes:
conversion of bodyshell to full RS specifications
accurate reproduction of factory Matter roll cage
acid dip and immersion E-coated bodyshell for total corrosion protection
painted inside/outside/underneath to any colour
stripped, lightened & rebuilt wiring loom
full RS suspension & brakes to order
RS flywheel & clutch
engine rebuild or modification to order
gearbox rebuild, LSD, RS syncros & gears to order
wheels & tyres to order

Although the intention is to build these from standard 964 or 993 donors (customer supplied) we could obviously also convert any RS lightweight into an M003.

The prototype 9m64RS M003 has been built to a customer's order and is finished in GT3RS Carrera White with lightweight glass, electric windows & hifi. It will be on display on the 9m/4Tech stand at Autosport Engineering this Thursday 11th and Friday 12th January.

It would be interesting to know if there's a fixed price menu for the various parts of the conversion.

Wonder what the purists will think of it ? Had a chat with Mark about this car and tecnicaly it's identical to an RS CS.

There will be a comprehensive price menu for the 9mRS which covers the most popular options, for now we are simply quoting a fixed price of £25,000+VAT for the following:
1. labour to strip car to bare shell
2. labour to convert shell to RS specification, seam weld, fabricate, fit & weld in M003 cage, remove roof panel & fit solid roof (panel included in price), fit RS specific brackets, remove non-RS brackets
3. complete immersion acid dipping, neutralising and E-coating of bodyshell, doors, engine lid and bonnet (as appropriate)
4. labour to clean, prepare, etch, prime, & paint entire shell and all body panels to customer's colour
5. labour to assemble complete vehicle from bare shell, including conversion of wiring loom to RS specifications (7kg removed) and RS ABS brake system
6. 4 wheel alignment to customer requirements
The process takes over 400 hrs and includes the cost of the solid roof panel, new body clips/brackets/fittings & wiring modifications, the end result having a "better than new" M003 bodyshell fully corrosion protected.

The primary parts menu, which are fitted at no additional labour cost, include:
RS or Cup suspension (shocks, springs, top mounts, A-arms, springplates, anti-roll bars)
RS Brake upgrade (calipers, discs, power ABS for C2).
RS interior package (door panels, Recaro seats, harnesses)
RS alloy or carbon bonnet, carbon doors, RS rear bumper section, RS Lightweight glass, manual window winders
Wheels & Tyres
RS flywheel & clutch assembly

The secondary parts menu is for items that require additonal labour, including:
Engine rebuild & upgrades
Motec engine management
Transmission rebuilds, LSD, re-gearing
993RS 4 channel ABS system upgrade
3.8 RSR turbo body conversion
etc.

The customer who ordered the car shown has opted for original RS suspension & brakes; full RS CS interior with replica CS seats, electric windows & hifi; standard engine with LWF & remap; an LSD and 18" Cup replica wheels.

Your kind words are appreciated, I will pass them on to Marc & Miles (9m Panelcraft) who have done 99% of the work to bring this project home.

Yes, I forgot about the exhaust. When the owner MB came in to spec the car we had a modified 964C4 celebration in the shop that had a twin outlet Cargraphic silencer. Suffice to say that when we ran the engine up he heard it and demanded the same for his car. We made the custom LHS bumper section for him in composite, having a copy of the 965 LHS wastegate outlet cutout but for the narrow body quarter panel. The panel is around £150 plus painting, the twin oval outlet silencer is around £750, both +VAT.

Very nice Colin. Isn't there a company that already sells that left hand exhaust valence piece? FVD maybe? Got any sound/video clips of the exhaust?

Probably, we actually made this part some years ago when we could not buy one anywhere.
WRT the exhaust, no sound clips I'm afraid but I'll see if we can sort out another photo of the silencer from underneath. That said there may be an opportunity (after the show) to video the car on our dyno under load, then host it on the new 9mRS website. That way you could see the car all round and also hear the engine in anger, rather than just a few blips at idle.

Keep a lookout on www.9mRS.com , we should be posting a lot more information, photos and prices soon.

You are right Kevin, the car is the latest rolling advert for 9m Panelcraft, showing off Marc's body work and fabrication together with Miles's exceptional painting abilities.
We are all looking forward to getting stuck into the next one which is a 9m93RS M003 widebody based on an original RHD 993RS, however just wait till you get a look of the 4.0 litre Speedster project....
