"There is also the small matter of insurance and upgrading my RAC Speed Licence to an International Race licence, which is not as simple as it sounds..."

The event I am speaking of is a 2 day open track event that my PCA Region club hosts. This mean up to 16 hours of driving with no race license regulation requirements with only advanced drivers allowed. It is more a get together, low pressure event where we hire pro drivers to give one-on-one instruction for those who desire it. Lots of fast guys here, come run with your friends and have a good time.

No more excuses!

Now there is a good idea!

Seriously, you both should come. Watkins Glen is a great track!

Geoffrey, wasn't there talk of a race meeting the weekend or two after this event or something?

Interestingly the 9007 passed its UK MOT inspection on Monday, so we will have it registered and road legal - we actually managed to get the DVLA computer to accept the registration as a "Carrera 2 Trophy Cup" - therefore if we did bring it over we it would be legal to drive. Hmmm, so how many 000's of miles is the Glen from the East coast?

There is a race about 3 weeks after the DE event and we can work with the PCA to get a license for you especially since you already have A license and a winning championship in 2006. I don't see that as a problem. The Glen is on the East coast. Depending on port of entry, about 4 hours. 150miles or so.

Colin,

Is your cage available as a kit? I'm building a similar car here in the states and am looking for as much authenticity as I can get.

thanks

Would that be authentic as in RS, or authentic as is 9mRS?

At this early stage of the project we definitely have no plans to sell the cage as a kit for obvious reasons. However if anyone wanted to do a self build project we would be happy to supply an E-coated 9mRS shell from their bare donor, the cost would be around £10k+VAT.

It sounds do-able, we will have to work out the costs involved and see if we can find the time for the trip given that I have a Championship title to defend. I better start selling more 9m billet heads and 9mRS's.

TJR,

Thanks for the link. The offsets match the stock 17" wheels (Cup 1) I have, which is good to know. I don't know the quality difference between the Veloce and RH. I know the Veloce is a one piece and the RH is a 3 piece wheel. Colin said the Veloce weighs more and prefers the RH Wheel.

I am searching in the Seattle area for a shop that may have one to see it in person. All I have are pictures and feedback on this forum.

Thanks...

If you can afford them I recommend the RH 3 piece, but if you do not have the budget and still want the look of the split rim then the Veloce is a good choice.
For track use I recommend the RH or Speedline since the Veloce is heavier.

Melv & Colin if you get serious about going to the glen let me know. Sounds like a fantastic few days away to me. Though i think i'd leave the RS this side of the pond.
on another point, Colin what sort of price to build a similar cage for my RS but more to C4RS spec? i.e. bolt in (well semi bolt in).

I'll try this again

Very nice project Colin, as allways when 9meister is involved. Can you give any details about the dual outlet exhaust?

Best regards
Anders
