Thumbs up I got one!

Hello all. I picked up my 1990 964 C4 Cab in St. Louis, MO., and drove it home in September. My wife and I had a great time - no misadventures with the car on the way home (or since).

It's got 48k miles on it, and is in generally very good condition.

I became a member of Rennlist after reading about the DIY for broken window switches - I got one on day 4. You should have seen the look on her face when I got the drill out! But half an hour later, we were both impressed.

I took some pics when the weather was still nice, and will try to insert them here. It's great to be a part of the community - already I'm benefitting from the tremendous value of everyone's experience. I'll try to help when I can.

Safe New Year's to all!

Tony

P.S. I tried to post pics, but got this instead:

I don't know what the minimum number of posts is, but I guess I'll try later.

Welcome! nice choice of color. The white ones are the fastest of all the 964's

Nice car, use it in good health.

Jim, BTW, all the 964s were originally painted red from the factory. The white paint was an option

Welcome. I'm a new guy too and am fascinated by the depth of knowledge from the group and by the enthusiasm and interest in the 911. Great clean looking car.

Do you still have the 'fix' for the window switch. My passenger side is lowering but not lifting....

thanks,

Stephen, it was about 800 miles and a leap of faith! I picked up a AAA membership with roadside assistance before we left - cheap insurance and a lot of peace of mind.

Alex, here's the fix I'm talking about - it may not address the challenge you're having:

Of course, now the link I inserted is not there - not enough posts! Let me try again:

No - it won't let me. Alex, do a search for window switch repair
You'll see a hit with "10 minutes" in the title. That's the one.

Tony,
If your looking for a local guy to work on your car, give Russ Kelso at PMCI a call. He's in Corrales and should be in the phone book, he used to work on my C4 when I lived in Rio Rancho. He's a straight shooter, I'm sure there are others but he's the only one I had any experience with.
Matter of fact I believe I broke his C4 cherry back in 96 with a distributor belt replacement, then a top end rebuild, then a couple of valve adjusts, then ........
I sure enjoyed driving in NM, just watch those damn gravel trucks on I-25!
Once I raced a Jag comming back from Alamagordo, had it up to 155..fun stuff
Welcome aboard,
Craig

I'll be sure to give him a call. Had you any experience with Hans Wittler's? They've also been recommended.
The gravel (and other) trucks are nasty - my windshield's been popped in every car I've ever owned here.
