My C4 weighs in at 2940# - Its a much different car that way. I've run a few NASA races that way. Unfortunately, the weight goes back in for PCA races.

I have removed door panels (replaced with RS), front speakers, radio, back speakers, seat backs, all back padding and panel boards, sunroof motor, cat, secondary muffler, spare tire/ jack, blower motor, AC components (but replaced with secondary oil cooler), primary oil cooler fan, horn, blower servos in front compartment, power steering pump, cruise control, and replaced seats with EVO XLs. Also have full cage installed.

Its amazing what weight removal will do for the C4 - the push is gone, and control is much more precise. This is the best and cheapest mod by far.

Roebling surface is much improved. Tire wear is minimal. Times last race were 1.5 sec faster for everyone.

What do factory seats weigh? I've been told that seats represent a tremendous opportunity for weight reduction.

Just out of interest I recently saw a 964 fitted with Honda S2000 seats, apparently half the weight of stock and similar looking.

Replaced the fully electrical seats (54lbs each) in my C4 with Recaro SPGs, CF-look RS door panels, removed rear seat backs, and spare wheel and tool kit.

The last 16# just came out of Claudia as the wiring loom is stripped. Now that the sunroofedectomy
is done she is entirely stripped out.

The only "practical" way to loose more weight would be composite corners as the doors and both front and rear decks are already.

Not really. She could be dipped and a few removed with a CF seat. She comes in at a bit under 2500# wet with the cage installed.

In addition to your list, my son removed the radio, amp, all speakers and crossovers. He also took out the window washer tank that was under the driver side front fender, He installed a g pipe, replacing the secondary muffler if I am not mistaken.

What about the bumper reinforcements / impact absorbers? I have seen past threads on removing certain heavy bumper parts (obviously there is a tradeoff between saving weight and minimizing collision damage).

Somewhere around here there's been floating a spreadsheet of a lot of specific items and weights. I am on a crappy slow wireless connection right now, and can't remember the search term(s) to use.

My C4 was at 2930 with 1/2 tank of gas and I've managed to drop another 135 lbs already this winter (which puts me at 2795). My goal is well under 2800 so I'm not done yet...

To get there, I've done all the same stuff as mentioned. I guess if a C4 tranny adds 200 lbs (?), I'd be at 2595 if I were in a C2 which is competitive.

I'd like to hear more of this story...

996TT is going to go down in history as one of the most bad-*** affordable cars in recent history.

3100 lbs for AWD twin turbo? What does a Nissan GT-R weigh? How about a Gallardo?

What size/offset are you thinking about? I'm looking to buy some for track wheels.
