OT: Name that vehicle...
Spotted this while traveling. Couldn't resist taking a picure of it.
I really like how they blended the front fender to the body.

If the VIN says its legal and it passes the safety tests...
Its a shame our lawas are the way they are. We miss out on some nice cars.
Rob, There are Elise's here now. Is the rover engined one different?

There was a VW van that had 2 front ends and 2 engines and would drive in either direction.
People take a vw beetle chassis and rip it all apart and make a kit car out of it. Still says beetle on the title.
I've even heard of people cutting out the vin on the chassis with a torch and welding it into another car. Lets see. Import RS, find the vin spots, swap them with a c2 vin, bing bing. rs street legal in us. (yes I realize this is against the law and I'm just spouting off, not planning)
Also, while not the same, another of my favorites is an old chevette with a 454 big block in it. I never saw it run, just pics. I don't know how they got that engine in there.

A car like the above is road legal, yet perfectly decent cars (like the rover-engined Lotus Elise) aren't.

Surely the true meaning of "The Land Of The Free" is that you can do whatever you like, so long as it's american! Hopefully, the owner of this fine piece of automobile history will not be a contender in the next "Darwin Awards" but somehow, I suspect he might!
