Has anyone ever heard of someone using a Euro plate that matched the characters on their rear plate in the US? I'm wondering if that would get any leniency from the cops or be just as bad as no front plate.

You'd probably get a ticket for an improper plate or swapped plates. I had a clear plastic cover over the front plate on my 911 Turbo and they gave me a ticket for "Obstructed Plate". I was going to argue in court the definition of "obstructed", but decided to pay the fine and take the plate off all together. I was never pulled over again.

If they snag you, I would vote the latter. Cops who have a sense of humor on the job are rare. The trick is to pass by unnoticed, which is difficult in a Porsche. I have a novelty plate from a beach resort on mine, which is the same basic shape and color as WA plates. But someday I expect I'll be stopped and be "standing tall before the man"!

Its great to be in a one plate state. The problem here is there are now over 100 different plate themes that you can get.

Pennsylvania is also a (1) plate state. Wifey wanted something on the front to break up the mono color on the front bumper, so I got the Euro type plate.

I've seen cars run those but I can't see how a cop could see that and assume it was your real license number so it would raise flags as much as no plate. Here in CA I run no front plates on either of my cars (not for the last 6 years on my Jag and not since 1998 on my Porsches) and have only be ticketed for it once - and that was in my Jag. It is a $10 fix it ticket so I mounted up a plate, got it signed off and then removed the plate.

I did a front plate with my nickname for the 964 since the tag is 911 C4 WB
Front euro styled plate looks cool in our cars, imho
Somehow I don't see them working the same for the 996TT. For the 996TT I ordered the vanity plate with the WACHUKO
and will avoid a front euro plate.

I ordered up a Euro "3M-TA3" plate after the Beastie Boys first album in high school. I was going to mount it on my old Merc. But in the 20 years since then, I seem to have misplaced it. I guess I've probably outgrown that anyway.

Unfortunately, this may not be true for long... I hear that PA is going to go to two plates.

I was looking into a euro plate and heard this the other day.

With some luck, I have been running the Euro plate on the front of my C4 for almost a year. It is the same as my Oregon personalized "DANZ C4" on the rear. Because this state requires front plates, I figure it is inevitable I will get ticketed. In the mean time, I like it, so who cares?
