A bit OT..sorry.. it's not that there are 'problems' per-se, it's just that the applecare program is sooo good! You just go into the apple store (and if you have pro-care like I do) go to the front of the line. Then if there are any problems, etc they just either fix them there, or send it out to get fixed. no fuss, and free. I liken the difference to owning a Honda (dell) vs Audi (mac). Everything (with applecare) is just taken care of. Thats why I recommend it so much.

I have been a Mac user since 1985 and have never purchased AppleCare for a desktop machine. I have never had a problem.

For the one Mac laptop we purchased, I did buy AppleCare. I figured a laptop is exposed to more abuse. I was right. The kids tripped on the power cord multiple times and broke an internal part on the computer. Apple fixed it the first time, and when it happened again, they gave us an entirely new (to new spec) machine for free (and the original laptop was 2 years old at that point!)!

Maybe partially because of my clutzy family, all new Apple laptops have a magnetic power coupling which will easily disconnect if the power cord is yanked. Another one of many subtle cool Apple features.
