There is a mac-friendly version of PET you should be able to buy from any Porsche dealer. Part number of mine is 000-043-400-05, titled "Genuine Parts Catalog". The CD files are in PDF format, and costs around $10.

Yes there is an Adobe Reader for Mac, but the "real" PET is a WIN32 application that must be run under Windows. The PDF version is a PDF dump from the application.

Yes, I have it. It works as a PDF file that is broken into chapters which is easy to search for stuff. You just don't get the whole application like you do on the PC, but the info is there and easily accessible.

If you really want to run it on a Mac you would need an Intel Mac and either Apple's Boot Camp or Parallels desktop for Mac.

But, as the others have pointed out, you can view the pdf files on a Mac no problem. That is how I do it.

I remember using the non pdf version it was a PITA as it would only run under some crazy screen resolution.

Thanks for the info...I'm thinking about getting a Mac and am wondering how many of the programs I use now will not be Mac-compatible.

Most (all? I think) new Macs are intel based so you run both Windows XP and Mac OSX on them, it works very well.

Yes, the entire Apple line of computers have migrated to Intel processors, so simply download the Boot Camp public beta (It will be built into the next major OS X release) and install XP.

You can then run any Windows app that you want, whenever you want by booting into XP.

Another option is buying Parallels which will run XP in a window while you are in OS X, but there are hardware issues with a virtualization approach like Parallels uses.

I use PET on the mac, just like everyone else I use the pdf files. It's much better than any application, just get good at search in the 'preview' application. Preview is very good, and better than the Adobe equiv.

As for getting a mac. GET IT! I use a mac for business and personal, there are no PC's in my house. Best decision I ever made. They just run, no viruses, no problems. Get applecare as it's a good warranty just in case you have a hardware problem of some sort.

As was mentioned, all the new macs with Intel chips can run windows as well using 'bootcamp' With bootcamp you are protected in case you need to run a windows-only app. For instance like the AIM Race Studio.

I have been Mac only for 5 years now. I run 4 businesses and all of my personal stuff no problem. The only issue I ever had was updating my Garmin GPS, but my new one has all of the maps pre-loaded so that is no longer an issue. But I am sure that I could do it now with the Boot Camp or Parallels.

Funny, almost everyone that's told me to get a Mac says to get the warranty. What kind of issues are people having?
