Default Highest mileage 964

My wife asked how long I would keep the ol 964 and I said until the grandchildren can drive it. She doesn't think it'll last that long.
Just wondering how many people have 964 with over 120k miles on them? I know they probably need a rebuild every 80k or so. But out of curiosity.

My old 77 911S had close to 170k and was still going strong. It needed alot of other nickel & dime stuff though. From what I've seen and read... If you stay on top of the maintenance you should/could expect 300k miles with maybe a top-end rebuild in there somewhere.

These engines are pretty much bullet-proof!

I am at 130,000. Engine was replaced at 125,000 due to a broken head stud. But it was running strong up to that point. I would be more afraid of a low mileage car than one with high miles.

My pal asked me how long a car was expected to last the other night. Realistically, with all the parts still available you should be able to keep the car running indefiniteley, albeit with a bit of expense involved, right?

Yours should last ages - it's worth twice as much as mine after all!

I purchased mine in '92 with 26K. It now has 213K miles on the original engine. As long as you take good care of the car, they will last a very long time.

Rob - Just curious, what kind of rebuild has it had? Top end? Bottom end too?

168,000. Engine was rebuilt @ 145,000. Every time I start the car it amazes me how good it sounds and drives.

I have a neighbor that has a 3.2 SC that just turned 365,000! His car is amazing.

I think the question is not how long the CAR will last. The question is how long the FUEL will last. With ethanol and E85 already on the market, how much longer will we be able to get the gasoline that these cars were designed to run on? 30 years? 50 years?

OT but sign of the times. I'm speaking to you from somewhere over NE Canada on Lufthansa flight #469 on my way to Frankfurt and Madrid. This aircraft has WiFi in the cabin. With this kind of technology today, our grandkids will someday laugh at the stupidity of using fossil fuel to push cars around...
