Default Has anyone fitted a whaletail on a 964?

I fell in love with the RS America whaletail. Can't get it out of my head.
I am sure most of you had this at least once - you saw something and thats it - YOU'VE GOT TO HAVE IT.
Some research confirmed that the 1993 RSA tail is the same part # as the 1984 to 1989 Carrera tail. However the decklids are all different. The fit test of a 1989 Carrera Whaletail to a 1990 decklid proved that the spoiler cutout on a 964 is somewhat larger than one on a 1984-1989. So the base of the tail doesn't cover the cutout completely.
Has anyone fitted the whaletail on a 964 and how? Which tail?
Has anyone tried and failed?
And don't forget: WE LOVE PICTURES!

I'm not sure about the two tails being the same part number. But there are various after market RSA tails available for less $$ in either fiberglass of carbon fiber.

I know fitting a 964 spoiler/lid is a popular upgrade to pre 89 911`s you need to change the hinges though.
So the reverse is possible you need the spoiler and lid though.

Good sources for tails or deck lids are MA Shaw and Getty Design.

MA Shaw, and I'm sure others, make an RS America or Carrera-style tail that fits in the existing hole that's left after you remove the stock rising tail. It's nice, as you keep your stock rear lid. The MA Shaw tail, like other fiberglass products, will require some finishing work prior to painting.

I considered that, but the carrera deck lid has a lot less curve in all the dimensions (its almost flat). And for my taste does not mach the beautiful curves of 964.
I doubt it will even fit nicely.
Anyway, I already ordered the part. Shipping and seals included came out to 550.00 USD compared to a used whaletail from a carrera for 1200.00 CDN and I still would have all the fiitting issues.
