Russ,

The meet is scheduled for 11:00 - some may get there a little early - but the weather may be a problem. Kevin posted on the SE Meet thread that he was doubtful as he has a 120 mile drive and the forecast is heavy rain. If I were you I'd check the postings on that thread tomorrow morning and see if it's going to happen or not.

I hope it DOES go ahead - I've just got my car back!!

Regards

Dave

the car has ABS, but mine been modified so as to be switchable for racing if you look at the pictures you might just be able to see to the right of the steering wheel on the dash a red pull / push **** thats the ABS on / off ****
It is number 202/290 as it would be numbered in the artwork world. This means it is a bespoke, factory built M003 N/GT and not just a Carrera RS Basic with a Matter Roll cage installed.

The part number on the DME is correct for a Euro RS or Cup car as well, important since these are sometimes taken from the car if the selling owner is of dubious ethics.

The "ABS off" function is common to the M001 Carrera Cup cars as well. The switch has a Porsche part number but is a funky "general duty" Bosch switch I have purchased at parts stores in Europe.

The Euro RS has the provision to install the ABS off switch built into the wiring harness.

BTW you have a really nice find there. Welcome to the Porsche 964 world, others will be pressed to emulate such an entry.

If you want to learn more about your car, and other's like it you may want to read this article:

http://www.carreracupusa.org/article...%20Edition.pdf

Your car is really a Carrera Cup with the RS road suspension and a passenger seat.

Also if anyone gives you a problem with the color show them this from the January 1991 Christophorus Magazine (The porsche factory magazine). This is a picture of the first Carrera RS prototype. It is also on the cover of the issue.

To be fair it isn't rocket science to install an ABS cut off switch. I have an ABS cut-off switch fitted to the 993RS braking system on my C2, it's a simple matter of interupting the power feed apparently.

BTW love the car

It is simple to install the ABS cutoff switch. You'll notice that your speedometer no longer works when the ABS is shut off. Also, the early 1990 Cup cars came with a "push through" pressure switch so in the event of a panic stop and very high brake pressure, the ABS unit is shut off, allowing the car to spin properly. I added this to my racecar.

Tx, quite something for a first Porsche, you went straight for one of the most desireable ones. Enjoy your stay with Rennlist.

WOW !!! What a car...........I sold new 964's when I worked for the dealer and remember we had a couple of Rubystone cars in stock......it's one of my all time favorite 964 colors.....!!!!! It was a shame those of us in the colonies didn't get the "real" RS though.....heh.

Enjoy you lucky bugger !!!! In Canada we've got to wait until cars are 15 years old here before they can be imported without restrictions....so maybe next year.....I'm drooling like Homer Simpson standing outside of Moe's bar !!!!

Yes, this is why I asked. Fwiw, the DME #s match my '92 Cup precisely.

Looking here at the posts I note there are actually TWO car owners with Rubystone Red M003 cars!!!

pauline964 has VIN# WPOZZZ96ZNS499202

ninesixfourrs has VIN# WPOZZZ96ZNS499170

I got them confused when I posted that ninesixfourrs has 202/290 in artwork numbering jargon.
