Could someone Please review my Suspension write up.....
Guys and girls,
I'm having some trouble accessing my own website, it doesn't appear to be updating as quickly as it should. I've tried deleting the local cache, but to no avail.
Anyways I'd like the suspension write up critiqued if you could.

Thanks very much.
kevin.

Typos, god that lot took hours, bugger. geoff, that's the problem I was having......and I wrote it,
what browsers were you guys using?
I've tried IE and Firefox, but don't use Safari or Opera, so don't know what they'd look like.

Kevin,
Looks good to me. In fact has given me some confidence to try this myself later in the year. (oh dear)
I have done many jobs on various cars but have never had to change a suspension strut.
Thanks for taking the time to do this.

There are a couple of things that make it a little easier. First, you dismiss as not practical the cutting of the brake line bracket to remove the brake line. You can do this simple step with a hacksaw or a demel tool in 2 minutes a side. You will not then find a nasty condition with the brake line like the one you experienced, or worse. Here in the States, they do not even stock these hard lines. They are a Germany item. What we do here is to slot the bracket with the current line and then you can remove the strut. Then on the new shock, simply cut a small slot into the side of the bracket. The line slides through and is tightened by the sliding clamp. And at the end of the job, you are not left doing a brake flush or making new brake lines. Many other types of shocks already have this slot for the brake line when new....
Second, the plastic bits on the front strut are CHEAP. Replace these are you can have them on the new units ready to go so you do not waste time trying to get them off and refit from the old ones. In many cases the black plastic piece that hold the ABS and Brake sensor connections get brittle and break anyway when you open it.
Here is a narrative from the 993 Board that is pretty much the same as the 964, at least for the front struts (one of bolts on the lower strut is different, but the same otherwise) which sort of mirror yours. Also there is some info on changing the front sway bar which may be useful.

Looks. I sure dont want to have to do it again! On a TIP you have a few more lines in the way after removing the blower on the left side.

On a different note - I've always found the moving graphics at the top too distracting. It makes it hard to concentrate on what's underneath.
Maybe it's just me, though...

Thanks guys,
In response.
Safari working ok, that's good to hear.
Slotting the damper brakeline bracket is a bit heath robinson IMHO, but thanks for the feedback Bob. I didn't buy new lines I made them, cost £1/ft for the copper/nickel line and about £10 for the pipe flaring kit. That linked writeup though is pretty comprehensive.
Jim, sorry I didn't have a Tip to look at, I have added some caveats, although its never to late, and if anyone has pics or text I'll happily include it.
John B, ok I was just playing around with moving letters.....maybe I'll get bored soon...........ok very soon. There just for you John, it is done, hows that for responding to the consumers needs... ;-)
Thanks
kevin
