Great pic's Rob I had hoped to take some pic's myself but have not got round to it. To anyone I have passed on the software to please note: The version i have sent you is scantool3 this works with Andy's interface. There is a schematic for Gregg's interface bundled with the software, however this is designed with the original version of the software. It should work but if someone builds Gregg's interface and has trouble connecting then please email me again and i will send you the other(original) version. Hope that makes sense.
A few people have asked for instructions. If you read through the thread most of your questions will probably be answered. If you get stuck or have a question , please post up here .

Laurence,
I’m almost embarrassed to ask but do you recall what I did to the software to make it work with Andy’s interface?
Also, someone had asked if the software supported the idle adaptation function. It currently does not but could be added at some point.

Hi Doug
You altered the software for me (in approx 2004) to work with an interface similar to Andy's. The interface uses DTR to enable/disable RX at the PC. I believe you changed your software to set DTR at start up to enable the echo back that your software expects. This is the version that I sent to Laurence & to those who request it named scantool3.zip

Doug,
Unfortunately my pc crashed a long time ago(couple of years) wiping all my emails, which contained quite a lot of useful emails from you .i am glad that Pete sussed out the dtr thing as i would have been going round in circles for a long time till i sussed it(if ever). Red rooster has built Greggs interface and it works with version 3 also.

Guys
I cannot get my Andy W interface to connect to the DME. The jumper setting is on "1" and I have cut out both LED's. I am using scantool3 (modified version) on an HP Compaq notebook with a USB - serial convertor, since the notebook has no rs-232 serial port.
With both leds connected and ignition on, I can see the L-line flashing, with the L led disconnected I can see the K flashing. So something is happening, but no luck connecting. Starting the car does nothing.
Can the problem be with the USB/serial port not driving the interface board hard enough? Any other suggestions? It will be a bear to park the car close enough to my study window to connect to the desktop :-((
TIA
