Regarding the idle adaption, is this implemented or not? As everything else works & my idle was already ok this was difficult to comfirm.

The version that you gave me (DTR modified to work with this type of interface) looks pretty complete with regard to operating parameters when looking at the Porsche workshop manual.

Being playing with my Interface tonight . When I first used it my battery was almost flat. It took a little while to connect/sync with the ECU. So
I left my battery to charge for a few hours. Tried the the interface again no dice . So I had a poke around with the old 'scope, found the 'L' line only switching between 12 and 8 Volts. There is an opto coupler that should be 'hard on' (saturation) down to 0 volts (Gnd).
On the interface there is a LED to show data switching on the 'L' line. So I just cut this out and it connected/sync'ed no problem . This was the old laptop serial port problem. Nothing wrong with the interface just a low power/proper switching levels from the serial port, not driving an opto coupler hard enough. This is a very common problem with laptops. The reason it worked earlier (flat battery) is that as the battery voltage drops, so all the thresholds alter and the LED current loading on the opto-coupler drops. Just something to be awear of when using a Laptop.

Nice to see more people wanting to try the interface. Great upload kirk. Looks from the diagram like a good old sipex or maxim com chip inside the kts and if i read the diagram correctly the hammer has only five connections to the outside world. Mind you that could have been the printer port i was looking at! need to look at it more closely. The diagram looks like a reverse engineer rather than something from Bosch?
One clarification with the interface. I used a 9 way dtype straight through lead to connect to the pc's comm port.

Threw the interface together yesterday after raiding the junk box ! 1/2 hour hassle with a bad serial lead ! but with that out of the way, all success !

I had a thought about the car connector. Older BMWs have a similarish round multipole diagnostic connector with a screw on cap. In the cap is a pcb with pins to tie the K line up to battery so there is no false diagnostic triggering.
As a quick diagnostic connector you can pull the pcb out of the cap and hook up the three wires needed.

The Porsche connector has three orientation lugs. How about a pcb , with the correct size pins ,with the lug positions milled , so by eye you can easily see which way round in the socket it goes ?

May not be perfect but a major step foward from figuring out which pin goes where !

If enough of us got together the cost of this could be very low.

Yes the software will reset airbag faults.

John Speake sells the bare connector I believe. It's £50 i think someone commented. I wonder if there is a possibilty of a group buy/ small discount?

I am still looking for the interface also. Has anybody found another source yet? Software looks like it will be fun to play with once connected up. I am in for a group buy of connectors also.

What interface are people who have done their own using?
The one at http://www.planetfall.com/~jeff/obdii/ looks just like Andy's.
The one with DougB's software bundle looks totally different.
