Default Steering wheel choice?

Hi all, this is my first post on here and i am the proud new owner of a lovely black C4.
The car is fantastic and i havent been able to get the grin off my face since owning it for a few days

The one thing i dislike about it is the horrible 80's audi style stock steering wheel....thats got to go !
What i want to know is, whats the general opinion/experience of the options available? My first thought is to go for the Techequipment RS wheel but i wonder if it looks too modern for the 964 dash layout? I like the chrome centre and emblem. I also like the RS mk1? wheel and the clubsport.

Has anyone got pictures they can post of the different wheels mounted in their cars? I dont want a momo or other non porsche make wheel.
thanks in advance and look forward to future posts with you guys,
Mark

go to www.aj-usa.com, they offer a 911 GT 3 steering wheel with an airbag for $800 US. Lot of the guys have gone that route. Pretty nice looking wheel and fits the 964 profile well. If you search the threads for modifications, you'll see a few pictures.

I vote for the AJ-USA one as well (as I have one).

Here is a shot if it.

Marc.
p.s. Welcome to Rennlist - we'd love to see some picture of your new car, please.

See here for how to upload (you don't have to be a member).

How about this wheel then? Momo Competition.

Marc
p.s. Your car looks great....but isn't the steering wheel on the wrong side?

I've always liked the look of the non-airbag one on Carnewal: P93 Rennsport Steering Wheel. 250 Euros. Simple. Classy. http://www.carnewal-europe.com/main.htm and follow the menus.

DFinnegan, how'd you get the crest in the center? Did it come like that? Did you stick one on there.... is it rubber or metal (Ouch)?

The car came with this wheel and crest in place. It appears to be glued.

The crest is metal; I think.

I have thought about what would happen should the airbag deploy and the cover (with crest) came at my face. However, I've come to the conclusion that at the rates that the bag deploys the steering wheel/air bag cover, it self, would do so much personal injury that the only possibility is that the cover must be "hinged" to swing up and away so that the only thing that the individual (me!) comes into contact with is the bag.

I do hope I am not mistaken!

Cheers,
Dave

I had considered adding a crest too (even bought one) but had the same concerns as Dave about airbag deployment so decided against.

It is too bad -- mine looks naked next to his as the crest does make it look a lot better.

Marc,

Isn't the crest a valid option when purchasing? If so, I would have to assume that the safety issue has been thought through by the manufacturer. It is an airbag, after all, with safety being its only purpose.

I do agree that I like the look of the crest much better than without.

Not to make your choices any more difficult!
