Clutch pedal stays down when depressed
Funny thing happened today. I pushed the clutch pedal to go into first and it stayed down... leaving only 2" of depression. Is this a sign of clutch failure or cable wear? Thanks for any info.

there is no cable
its hydraulic !!!
could be a sign of cylinder wear , or bushes in pedal .
mine does it every now and then , getting it on the transporterr to 9m it first did it and i couldnt get it in gear , once we got to warrington it was fine !!!
done it twice since then , but for now i just put my foot under the pedal and check its all the way up whenever the thought comes into my head .

It could also be a sign of low fluid in your brake fluid reservoir. The draw-down point for the clutch slave is very high on the reservoir and so if you've got a brake fluid leak somewhere, the first place it could actually show up is in the clutch. Check the fluid level and you will definitely need to bleed your clutch slave cylinder.

Crawl in and feel how the pedal movement feels by hand. There is a roll pin that attaches the pedal to the actuation part of the pedal cluster. As it fails, the pedal will move without moving the hydraulics, and the pedal can get stuck down....... do a search on clutch roll pin.

Yeah, also all kinds of debris, dirt and rust can cause the pedals (clutch or brake) to bind in the bushings and not come all the way back up when released.
