Rocker Panels Suck
Whoever at Porsche designed these things w/ these sh**ty white clips should be demoted to janitor. If one doesn't snap in right then to get to it properly you need to pull another which breaks that one. I have to get this done today and am short one clip after starting w/ two extras. I fu**ing hate rocker panels!
That's all I've got to say about that.

Must have been one of those American engineers Porsche hired. You should take a look at some the Domestic molding clips, indicative of poor quality brought forth by cost control.

Jim, do you really think a $70,000 (1993 $$) car should have metal clips that don't break the first time you pull them off? Come on, really, you're asking for too much. Wait until Porsche is forced to start cutting cost and sources their parts from China like the rest of the world is going, paying $100,000 for a car will not buy you quality.

For the clips, I went to the dealer and bought a metric-s%$%t ton of them, and just replace them as needed. The threaded ones at the front of the car, and on the sharkfin I expoxied to the rocker, then just reassembled. I have done this 'treatment' 3 times in the last 2 months. Agreed, they suck.

Redid mine with fiberglass resin. Roughed up the inside panel, dropped a piece of fiberglass cloth over the screw, then 'glassed 'em down. I dare them to come off. Only problem is, I can't get the rear-most plastic clip to go into the grommet. The sheetmetal gives too much. Any help here?

Ha, that post was 4 years ago and I still think the design is ****, although I haven't had too much trouble w/ mine lately....except the sail fins some.

I got tired of mine breaking every time I pulled off the rocker panel, so I replaced the plastic insert on the body with rubber grommets. You can get them from an electronics supply house. They are soft and but just enough to hold the white pins in the holes.
