Default Interior Retrim Phase 2 - The Strip!!

So was out at snooker this morning and came back home at lunch time quite energetic, and decided today was "strip the 911" day!! My fingers are a mess and there were sometimes when the air was blue, however man-over-motor triumphed again. I would like to say a big thanks to Jamie aka "ttAmerica RoadsterUSA" from rennlist for the help on top dashboard removal, his article was spot on, however I did get a little confused at one point and took out the clock to get at the centre of my dash nut and bolt only to remember it would be my other end guage as his is LHD and mines is RHD!! All in all not a bad day actually!!

I've got lots more but only just applied for membership so reached post limit on pics......I'm planning on doing a pdf document with all the updates.....

feel quite proud now, I know my car so much better.....Bailies Upholsteries just round the corner is doing the trim, so it's all going to him now, and the fact that I've taken it all out should mean it won't costs that much now about 500 quid probably, however there is a problem with the roof lining and the pillars just behind the front seats and that it is grey so need to order a new black roof lining and get him to do the pillars in place, and then get it fitted which to be honest I'm not really looking forward to, I might seek some professional help with that. In fairness the centre console and dash was the worst but with some help from the net, it was done easily after me for a bit wondering what I was doing wrong.

The carpet is staying in place, however I'm gonna try and get the rear seat delete kit either made or ordered via the net to replace the rear seats - see pic attached. It's a bit like a low level parcel shelf, and is similar to the standard RS Cup & America cars rears. The UK RS's are just carpet but I'm not doing that, I'm retrimming my original panels unlike an RS. I'm struggling to get the seats out as it needs a very big flat blade screw driver, and my trusty toolkit is short of one!!

Here are the parts, all in order.......might run a book on what will be left at the end!! In fairness the rear seatbelts are not going back in anyway.

Question is, do I use 6pt harnesses or just standard seatbelts?

You just need a v. big screwdriver to which you can attach some kind of ratchet handle / bar to get better leverage. It needs some serious torque to shift it. I had the same problem and couldn't undo mine - gave up and had to let my specialist do it when the car went in for a service.

I knew it was money, but not how much.

Quid:

A small, circular item similar to a dollar; for example, sand dollars

British slang for one pound sterling (£), originally referring to the pound note (plural is quid, not quids, despite the expression "quids in", referring to a financially positive end to a transaction or venture). The Irish pound and the Australian pound were also referred to by this name. Can also refer to Euro currency in Ireland, although the term yo-yo has also been coined for the euro.

Kirk <- learned something new.

Now do you wanna know what a loonie is?

We have been using $ since 1966 buit still the expression "earn a quid" is regulalry used (ie make some some money, get a job etc etc.).

Q where do yu start first, re do the interior or make sure the motor, suspension, brakes etc are hummong and there is a good exterior?

Oh the problems and decisions?

I don't think it matters where you start, the only rule I follow is that when I start a job I complete it before getting tangled up in another area. Otherwise you are liable to get 20 unfinished jobs started and the whole process seems unconquerable.

Right now I am working on on my motor rebuild / clutch. Its expensiv enough to keep me away from other problems!

Seaeagle, I was quite lucky as my exterior is perfect and the car only needed a small service when I got it and I have RS suspension, so I started with some mods like the G-pipe & drilled airbox, and then started on designing my new interior however not everyone can afford to spend the cash on the seats which I feal very fortunate about as I normally buy expensive cars but ion this case it's more value in terms of what joy I receive rather than the spending in this case.
