Default Hmmmm.....cup mirrors here we come!!!!

I returned after a couple of days this weekend to find that someone had taken a liking to my flag mirrors. Funny thing was that the person did all the hard work in actually snapping the mirror off but was then defeated by the cable holding it in place. Weird. So.......who has the best prices for Cup mirrors these days?

Geez, with all the work you've done on your car, Christer, I am surprised you had not yet changed the mirrors! A good time to do so!

Aero mirrors are good for at least 15 hp - and cheaper than Motec.

I can’t tell you where to buy new mirrors unfortunately... But, instead I can offer you tons of sympathy. I admire you for your stiff upper lip, Christer... Sorry this had to happen to you... Phew... Sad world we live in sometimes. I thought this kind of stuff was only happening here where I live...

Good luck Man!!..

Hi Guys, thanks for the links.....

A bit late with the Motec comment....doh!(If only I had known)

Marc, its not so much stiff upper lip (I am not English) - its just that its not worth getting stressed over....nothing I can do about it anyway. I am more annoyed that I can't drive the car unless I cut the whole thing off...so I need to get it done pretty soon!

This is off topic, but since there were several suggestions of the original question, I'll ask it quick.

I realize every country/state has good and bad areas, but it seems to me I read a lot about vandalizm to cars in the UK or even Europe in general on these boards- mirrors ripped off, cars keyed, spat on, etc. Are you guys parking your cars in bad areas, or are there more vandals to cars in general in the cities of the UK? This is sort of a general question- there are areas in my state (New Jersey, US) where your car could be stolen in minutes, but they are not areas I need to go to for work or any of my travels... I didn't know if vandalism is more prevelant in all areas in the UK or Europe vs. here where they simply steal the whole car in the really bad areas. (you will hear of the occasional keying of a car, but not that often...)

By the way, this type of activity really ticks me off and it's not even my car. I'd skin the bastard alive if I caught him doing this to anyone's car...

Hi Christer

I bought my cup mirrors from these guys in the US. They come unpainted, but complete with all of the electrical connections. I searched for a long time, but these guys really came up trumps. Omar is the chap you need to email...
I paid $269 plus $38 shipping to the uk... definitely the cheapest i could find!!!

Hi Bo

Is that original Porsche mirrors?
It sounds very cheap, considered they are sold for 480$ on ebay....

Michael

Thanks Bo, will take a look although I am considering bolting the flag back on if possible. Its quicker and cheaper...

Andrew911, my car was parked in a very respectable road near where I live - it is a quiet suburban road where most of the houses are worth a minimum of £500K. It has been parked there most days (as it is near the rail station) for the last 4 years with no problems. I just think some teenagers were walking back totally drunk and thought they would have some 'fun'.

I might be slightly different to most Porsche owners in this though, but I bought my car to use it. Not necessarily as a daily driver but yeah, I don't park it 300 yards across the car park just to avoid the chance of getting a 'door ding' or anything like that. OK, I don't park it some parts of London where I wouldn't park any 'semi-valuable' car but other than that I take my chances. It is there to be used, and if I ever got to the point where the car dictated how I live my life then I would sell.....its only a piece of metal at the end of the day (albeit a *very* special one...).

No, they're certainly not original. However once fitted, they are probably indistinguishable from originals. They are also fully electric, just like the original Porsche part.
Depends how original you want your parts to be... and how much spare cash you have!
Cheers,

Just go ahead and bolt the flags back on.
After all, something needs to remain original on your car.

In the ebay advertisement photos the unpainted plastic mirrors looked "swirly", did the mirrors that you received look the same?
