The 993 RS shift rod was a direct replacement into my 964 car.

Took me about an hour to replace.

You may want to renew the little nylon bushings at the shifter end.

Burgass, the stock C4 has the RS-style linkage (the bottom one):

It's also interesting that the top linkage looks identical to the 901 linkage in the 65 911!!! Wonder if the part number changed?!!

Geoffrey, I have come into your project late, but have been following it from the roof attachment phase, now that I have a vested interest in C2s . Are you planning on club racing this car, and if so, in what class?

Larry,

The car was built to GT2R or GT2S class rules. I am planning on running Michelin slicks so it would be in the GT2R class that I would race the car. I have not decided on club racing the car at this point and I would expect that much of the beginning in 06 will be taken up in development. I'll be going to the Mosport club race this year with Jeff, Bob, Hank, and Ronnie and may race it there. If not, I'll just do the DE. Too many unknowns at this point to say. I'll also be at WGI for the advanced driver's event our region puts on in May.

I do not have the part #'s the price of the shift rod is somewhere around $200.00, the shift lever ,fork and bushings are around $100.00. Send Jeff at SUNSET PORSCHE in Oregon an email, that is where I got mine, very helpful.

How much of a change does this make? Is it a noticeable upgrade?

With the RS short shift it makes a small change in the throw, the biggest difference is in the location of the shift ****, it is now closer to the steering wheel. I did not go with the RS shift rod, too much $ for what you get, but I did go with new shift coupling, mine was worn and cracked. In all, I am happy with the improvement and it was a cheap upgrade.
There is another option, a bit more money but apparently worth it.

This one makes BIG difference!
I made both parts by myself + added the RS short shifter and... WOW!!! It's a joy every time you have to change gear!

Are there any experiences with this specific part available? Quality and fitting accuracy?

The price looks convincing - even for someone in Germany.

Thanks

Stefan

I've got the FD RS short shift kit + 'Platinum Rod' in mine. It's a very nice piece of work.
