Great color choice. What was the original color? I decided against a color change because I didn't want to pull the motor (again) and everything else associated with it. Looking forward to your build.

Keep the pics coming everyone. Mines in storage an hour from home. One car garage meant my xj got the garage for winter instead of fighting for street parking. Wish I could visit my 964...

Original color was slate gray metallic. Several slate gray formulas in the Porsche family.

That was fast. Did you strip the car to bare metal first? I am curious in your choice of tire. Do you plan on driving your car in the snow? There are so many performance tires out there I would have thought you would have gone with a summer performance tire instead of all season.

Yes they got on it. Timing worked out and paid an expediting fee. They need to sand it and then buff it and then we can start putting it back together.
Good question on the tires. I run all season on the cayenne and just said to get the best all seasons in the sizes we need. Fronts are 235/45/17 on 8's and rears are 275/40/17 on 9.5.
The car is going into the dd rotation and I didn't even think about it. Does not snow a lot at the beach in Southern California but we are expecting a wet winter ( we hope). Do you think I should switch them out ? And to what?
Thanks

Saw a Painit-To-Sample 918 this weekend. Unfortunately pictures are not allowed inside (a shame as the collection also contains a stunning Maritime Blue 964 RS and C4 Lightweight #001 - the factory prototype car!)

A couple pics from the cars assembled outside:

If you can find pilot super sports or the equivalent brigestone i'd go with those over the all seasons... MPSS do well in the rain/wet (I have driven mine on track in the wet on my RS!) and they are a really great dry tire.

I love mpss. I have them on the RS and they are great. I will tell you that for the 964 I ended up going with Bridgestone Potenza RE-71R. This was simply a recommendation from a friend and they are freakn awesome. Used them on the street in the rain and on he track (once) and they were very impressive and I recall reasonably prices on tire rack.

They make the sport ps2 in the appropriate sizes.
Should I switch out my tires with these ?

I run 18's on all my cars but the 928. I have been using the PS2's until I recently switched to the MPSS's were I can. Similar tire to the PS2 the SS is a bit better all around and costs less but if you can't find them in 17's at your sizes the PS2's would be a good alternative.

I have never used the tires you have. Although being an All Weather tire and the aggressive side tread I would venture to guess they will be a bit noisy, the extended side tread might make for some rubbing but I am guessing.. You might try fitting them and see if you have any issues since they are mounted. BTW how much do the rims weigh?

Also How are they on the GTS? I have 14k miles on mine already and needs new tires. Was not a fan of the Pzero's in the 295/21 and have been contemplating an all season instead of separate winter tires.

I had gone back and forth years ago with a complete rework of a 94 turbo. The owner used the same color and it ended up very nice great color for sure and good choice.

I lived in La jolla for a short period back in the 80's I don't ever remember seeing rain never mind snow.

Just looked at the cayenne ..been running pirelli scorpion zero's in 285/35 zr22
have 48k on them and they have been great. Ran them on my last two cayenne's too. I will call today to see if I can get the tires switched out since we have time as the suspension has not arrived yet from Holland.
If they pull the tires off I will have them weigh the rims.

Went to school in La Jolla but was gone by 80. We have been in severe drought for the last four years but are expecting a wet winter. Raining this am and is suppose to pour all week.
