Question anyone running 600/800lb springs on a street driven car?

Hi Guys, I am curious if anyone is driving their 964 on the street with linear spring rates in the 600-700 front, 800 rear range. I think Bill G might be one who says it works well...

I am considering this rate, but would not want to beat up myself during a 3 hour drive to the track!

Any comments on how tractable it is for a car that is driven on the street? Thanks as usual

I installed 600/800 Hypercoil springs earlier this year and the ride is a little stiff for the street but it's not bad as I thought. I don't think you should worry about these spring rates unless majority of you're driving in the street.

I wish I can tell you how well they work on the track but while the I had the car in the shop for my suspension upgrade, I broke my collar bone which put me out for the season.

Geez, that's not good. Heal up! And thanks for the comments. Do you think you could drive 3 hours in the car without going crazy?

I took my car up to Road America a few weeks after I broken my collar bone. It's a 2.5 hour ride and I didn’t' think it was that bad. I will tell you the ride is much stiffer than the stock shocks and H/R coil overs that I had before. If your 3 hour drive is all highway, it's shouldn't be a problem.

I think mine are in that range. It isn't too bad.

I also broke both collar bones a year ago. Broke one in 2 places, waited 12 weeks to heal, squeezed in a track event and then broke the other one in 5 places. It took about 16 weeks for that one to heal to the point of no pain. Both breaks due to biking mishaps.

600/800 is not bad. What shocks are you running? This will make all the difference. I ran 800/1200 on the street with Motons on my 993TT and it was fine.

I have 160 Nm in the front and 200 Nm in the rear which I believe is harder than 6-800 lb, and I have no problem at all on the street. Driving a 1500 km drive to Nürburg Ring is totally OK.

Guys, thanks for the information - you've convinced me to try it out! Bob, I am running LEDA shocks, which I will have re-valved by Karl P for the higher spring rate; they're the non-remote reservoir adjustable-type shock.

Thanks again guys. And Tom W, I think it's time to give up the bike and go hiking instead

I have a JIC set up
643 front 783 rear linear coilovers.
The shocks are 15 vway adjustable so on the street I leave them at full soft.
Not bad on the street and lots of fun. Great on the track.

well...I guess I'll have to disagree with the folks here, I have exactly 700F and 900R spring rates on my race car. An 80 mile drive each way to the track was not so comfortable for me. I cant imagine driving daily on them. Yes on flat , great roads its not an issue, but in pothole ridden areas or roads with plenty undulations like where I was, it becomes too much, not to mention that if you have race shocks you have to consider rebuilts ( I have JRZ's with Eibach Springs) . If you go with tenders it might not be so bad. I came to a point that I bite the bullet and got a truck and a trailer... I love the setup on the track though and in the future I may go stiffer...
Just my 02's...
