Lightbulb New Project 90 C4 RSR Backdate!

Hey Guys!
I am getting to do a project that I have wanted to do for awhile now.
I am backdating a 90 964 C4 into a 73 RSR look.
Here are some of the specs that we know thus far.
The car is GP white and that’s the color it will stay.
The graphx color is yet to be decided.
I will be using steel front and rear early turbo fender flares from Bill at Restoration Design and a steel long hood. The front and rear bumpers will be fiberglass, as well as the ducktail I got them from Hank at GT Racing.
Back to H4s and the early lights front and rear.
I will be adapting the C4’s front fenders to look like the early RSR.
I will taking a couple of 73 finders then on weld a turbo flares, along with the bottom section of the fender. The rear turbo fenders will be made to look more like the original RSR.
It will be having Mike at Lindsey Racing make the wheels 9.5”s & 11”s x 17s with some thing like 255 and 315 Kumos. Mike doses a great job!
The rear wheels will look pretty deep. The fronts are a deferent story there only going be about as deep as a 8” Fuch. I think it will look all right. For brakes I will be putting 993TT reds on front and rear. The shocks are Bilstein sport shocks along with some nice stiffer lowering springs . Some nice adjustable sway bars and a front strut bar, to make it fun at the track.
The engine will have headers with heat. I am using custom GHLs with Supertraps exiting in the proper spot below the bumper guards. I will add a nice chip and a K&N to help it a bit.
That should get it up into the 250HP and 235TQ area to the wheels.
Far as the interior I might put in a rear roll bar and a nice steering wheel but that’s it. For NOW!
It looks like MONSTER Garage around here! There’s parts n stuff lying around all over the place!
You know how it is when you take one apart. It takes up 3 times the space!
Here is some pics of how it will look and some of the progress so far.
The graphx to be decided. BUT It's between red, blue and black.

Would be nice to see the further steps. Cool website, what's that 964 with a 64.000$ tag?

Even if I'm not into this back-dating thing myself I must say I'm really impressed! The build quality looks awesome! And the stance aswell.

Sweet,
my winter project is to backdate a sc to a 74 RSR so I do not have to change to a long hood.
I will stay tuned for results.

it looks like the factory rockers are removed and the rear flare blends into the car.

Cool

Wicked man!!! I want to do the same someday!!! Awesome job. Please please keep posting photos along the way and keep tabs on costs so that you can share with those of us that want to do this in the future.

There is a company in Europe that is selling turn key cars... they created bolt on parts to make the car look like a 73 RS/RSR

I hope they end up selling part for the diy folks...

I think that's Autofarm isn't it.....I swear I saw them at the Porsche Festival this year....2 or 3 different models - all 'retroed'! (Anyone else see that?)

Christer,

Paul Stephens is starting to do it using the 964 as a base. Autofarm seem to mainly use the older cars like the SC & the 3.2.

We want photos! We want photos! Just a friendly bump asking for additional photos and an update.

The only favor I ask is to post the specifics problem areas you have come across doing this change. This is something I will do in the near future and I would like to have some reference points for when the time to do this project arrives...
