Talking Just when I thought I'd mastered my addiction....

Tonight my better half was out for the evening and so I spent a productive half hour fitting my new Phillips Vision plus headlight bulbs (25% extra light don't ya know!).

The weather in the North West of the UK has been lousy for the past few weeks so not much chance to play out!

It's a nice cool clear night tonight and it would have been rude not to try out my new lights ( ) so I fired her up for the first time in 2 weeks (I'd almost forgotten just how much I love that deep bassy sound - cup pipe helps ), pulled her out of the garage, letting her warm up for a couple of minutes (although I was conscious of not wanting to disturb our elderly neighbours too much ) and went for a drive for an hour.

Even just tootling along in 4th whilst waiting for the oil temp gauge to reach its customary stop I fell in love all over again with the romance and legend of that rev counter directly in front of me, somehow even more magical when lit up at night - I've always loved driving late at night when there's no traffic around, nothing odd about that, right?!

So after a cruise to warm things up, a blast up the motorway to clear the tubes (mine & the car's) then a long looping drive along some fast, well surfaced country roads with just my headlamp beams and the sound of that flat six for company, I reluctantly returned home, backed the car into the garage and stood and admired the curve of 'her' hips whilst listening to the ticking of the engine as it slowly cooled down.

I felt just as intoxicated with it all as I did 12 months ago after I first backed her into the garage , having driven her 250 miles from where I had bought her.

I've always loved cars from being able to walk (I blame my parents ) but no other car I've driven has managed to get under my skin quite like this one.

My girlfriend jokes that the only mistress she has to worry about is parked in the garage...

...she's not far from the truth!

Sorry if that's all a bit rambly and non technical, but hey I just had to share it with someone!!!

Cheers

Nick,

Great post, its Porsche literature! Makes the rest of us feel good about having a 964 and never want to seel it (well, maybe for an RSR).

What time was your drive? Its weird, I nearly went for a similar drive yesterday night but then I gave up because I was worried of the salt on the roads.

Nick, I was out last night driving around surrey/middx borders. Well, I was going to dinner in Egham so had to make a few detours just for fun. Did a 20 mile stint on the M25 as well on the way home - boy was there alot of salt there - it was like a really dusty road...

The new exhaust pings a lot more when cooling than the original one did. Nice to hear that though, I did stop for about 30 seconds just to listen. I think I have a problem.

Hi fellow Porsche Bigamists(sp)

I too am in awe of my girl, I have had my mistress for a year and still brave the cold, snow, rain and wildlife and sneak out to visit "Ursula" in the garage at all hours of the night, Just to enter and feel her inside, rub my hands across her hips, heat her up and listen to her deep gutteral moan. I sometimes open her up and listen to the sweet music from the within. Take a soft towel and wipe her off, the sweat beads that are ealry evening dew. How I wish I were a pint of oil. I could slosh around, deep inside her and feel the stroking of the pistons in the sleeves. I sometimes clean her out inside, not that she's messy but because I love her so much!!

Christer, You think you have a problem? I think not, I thinks its great that you feel so much for your mistress .....

Richard

I don't know whether it is because I am Norwegian, but I usually think of cars as males. Especially these ones with their deep bassy 'voices' and the fact that they are rather loud and rowdy, especially with the new exhaust - that reminds me I must try to get some video this weekend.

Anyway, we can beg to differ - I have the same relationship apart from the sexual side!

Nick,

What's your opinion on the Vision Plus? Is it better than stock?

Just the way you described you cruise makes me want to go out and drive for no reason.

Vision Plus give a whiter light than normal and seem slightly brighter, so for £20 per pair I'm happy enough!

Riccardo, it was about 9.30pm and I was mindful of ice/salt too but it just had to be done and i didn't see much anyway!

It's good to know I'm not alone in these simple pleasures!

Cheers

Nick, just got my hands on some Xenon headlamps. House move has taken up my time recently, but when I get time (hopefully before summer!) I'll fit them.

Then I challenge you to headlamps at dawn, and the winner gets to run off with your car (it's the colour that attracts me!)

Phil, it would take more than a fancy pair of headlights to part me from my mistress...

I've changed the side repeaters to clear ones now (on your advice) so there would be no amber lamps to absorb the dazzling light from my Vision Pluses...

Bring it on, I say...

Cheers

Umm, have to think of another seduction tactic then.

Guess you need good headlamps up in the dreary north...

Seriously, what colour is your car? Looks really good in the pix

I agree! There is no substitute for the Porsche 964. Every time I open the garage it is like it is the first time! Every time I am out I get compliments on the car It is definitly an addicition. The advertising poster Porsche used for the Boxter sums it up best,
"The feeling a dog gets when the leash breaks...!

Phil, the official name for the colour of mine is Linen Grey Metallic.

When I bought it from Henry Firman this time last year, he decribed it as silver and it did indeed look silver on his website, but when I went to look at it, it was either a very very pale gold or a silvery gold!

A lot of people mistake it for silver at first glance although it looks slightly different depending on the surrounding light - in the garage it appears more gold than silver.

I am trying to decide whether to get the front PU resprayed to rid it of the stone chips (all appear to have been touched in over the years) or whether that would simply spoil my enjoyment of the car as I would then be correspondingly more paranoid about driving it as Porsche intended in the future

I love the colour of yours - I imagine that the picture in the mag don't do it justice though.

...not wanting to start a mutual appreciation society however

My better half wants to get married, but she now grudgingly understands that the car will not be getting sold to pay for a traditional family circus.....

Cheers

Don't be fooled into believing that marriage/kids/houses mean you have to drive sensible cars. If you go down that route you'll end up with a Ford Focus
