Can't comment on the H&R, but my Eibach springs are great. Good ride, car lowered just enough to look and feel right.

I like my H&R's, haven't experienced eibachs. I will say that I sometimes feel slightly more than I'd like to on sections of bumpy freeway, but once I get on the twisties its all forgiven!

In my experience, Eibach street springs all sag after time. (Their race springs are fine)

I've used them on Porsche's, Audi's and VW's and after a year or two, they sag around 1/4" to 3/8" affecting alignment and cornerweights.

Now, all I use are H&R's. Good ride, good handling, and better quality.

My car has the Eibach springs and was sitting next to a 964 C4 this wknd, that has the H&R springs. The C4 was noticeably lower than my car. The owner was commenting that his was too low and was considering raising it back up for street use. Im not sure if the H&R springs are shorter, or what the rate difference is. I also do not know how much the lower ride height is due to the weight difference of the cars (C4 vs RSA). Without measuring, it looked like the C4 was 1/2" lower than my car.

Anyone else able to add any insight to this comparison between the two spring types?

I can't comment as to the difference between the two, but I have the Eibach's on a 1991 C4 coupe. When I purchased the car (this past July) it was very low. Especially in the front. I recently had the front raised up a bit and realigned. It now looks better, rides better (I think), and I no longer worry about scraping when entering (even rather flat) driveway entrances (like going into a gas station).

I was told that the front end came up about 3/4" and the car is still pretty low. I have before pics, but no after pics yet. I'll post when I get them.

Cheers,
Dave

Can only comment on H&R's, which work well but will add to be sure and change out your shocks while there if you are running originals. Even on low mileage cars age seems to make them harder, and putting in a stiffer spring exacerbates it. A new set of Bilsteins at the same time gives you a nice ride with the H&R Sports. And don't forget the full alignment when done!

well i'll chime in too....i have the h&rs with revalved bilsteins. i think the front h&rs are a little too stiff for the rears. makes the car feel unbalanced to me. it makes me wonder how the front eibachs would do. they start out a bit softer i think. in either case, i think the bilsteins need re-valved for more rebound damping.....

The only Eibachs I can find for the 964 are "Pro Kit". The "Sportline" isn't available for the 964 - and seems to be the more aggressive setup for other cars. When you say street springs, are you referring to the Pro Kit?

I think the Eibach ones drop the C4 by 30mm, the H&R's by 40mm.
I've got the Eibach, no issues with ride, handle great. Only just had so can't comment on sagging.

Rememebr that all springs deteriorate with age. My 1990 C2 had been lowered at some point by a previous owner, I don't know when. The springs had red markings which my mechanic thought were H&R (but I can't be sure of that). One front spring had broken (quite common fault thse days) and one rear spring had sagged to the point where he could not get the ride heights to align. I had no alternative but to buy a new set of springs.

I too understood that the Eibach ones are 30mm lower, as opposed to 40 mm for the H&R ones.

I have H&R on my C4 and I believe it may be time to switch out the shocks. I was thinking about Bilsteins. From my understanding the HD are for stock type setup and the SP for lowered. Unforutunately the SP are not available for my 91 C4 just the HDs...are these ok to use with H&R? I read someones else's post above about "re-valving" Any other suggestions? Konis, etc??

Thanks,
Puma
