Question Slick 50 (for engine & transmission)

Has anyone ever used Slick 50 in their engine and/or transmission before?
Their are so many lubrucants on the market, however from my previous experience in another car: after adding Slick 50, the runs at a bit higher idle, which makes it run more smoother and quiet.

Anybody any experience in this area?

Friendly advice:

Don't use it. Use Mobil for both (different oil, of course), it's a big oil company who does a lot more R&D than any of these 'oil add on companies' so I'm sure if there is something that'll make you engine runs better etc. it's in their oils already.

Hi Marcel,

I tried it in an old Plymouth Turbo (Mitsubishi motor, I think) about 10 years ago, and it worked quite well. There was a noticeable improvement in throttle response, I guess because there was less internal friction. Only problem was that it worked too well. The engine revved so freely, that it caused the cam belt/chain to jump a cog! Cost me a few hundred dollars to fix...

Would I use it in my 964? I don't see any need or reason to. Plus, if Porsche hasn't approved it, I'd stay well clear of it.

Cheers,

Marc

Don/t buy any of this stuff! It will actually ruin your engine. And I don't believe that an engine will rev more free and a belt will jump, that's really funny! The only thing you can use is something called Lucas heavy duty oil stabilizer. It will keep your mobile 1 oil in places where a cold start is causing a lot of wear.

Hi Marcel,

I've been told by 2 separate Porsche specialist here in the UK to steer well clear of those add in's. I'll rather take their advice and hopefully save some servicing costs...

Cheers

If slick 50 was so great, car manufactures would be using it from the factory. I would wager, they know more about this stuff than we do.

Marcel,

As a real 'Dutchman' you should think clear.

Did you ever see a Porsche damaged when good oil was used???

The oils today are mjust fine, you don't need that stuff, let them sell that to Mr. Johnson with his 1992 Ford Tempo ..............

Use good Porsche approved oil, nothing will happen.

Using Mobil 1 , 0W40 ......great!

Long time ago my friend put it in his 2 year-old Chevette. A month later it blew up. Literally blasted a hole through the side of the block. He reached in and pulled a horseshoe shaped rod out of the hole. Maybe coincidence, maybe not.
