I'll second that. Perhaps he pushes it a bit but all in good fun ... really!

Well I call it COD anyway - I am not obsessive enough to get it right 100% - anyone can look it up on the internet if they really wanted to...

As you have exposed me for the complete medical charlatan that I clearly am, I better go and clean my car.

Smokin, everyone has different views and I appreciate yours. My sense of humour is NOT appreciated by everyone. Not to say that I was totally joking, I do disagree with not using a car in the rain and I would maintain that it is obsessive behaviour, but if it gives you pleasure - by all means!

I am sorry to hear that you have arthritis - sounds like a good reason not to clean your car too often.

When I am back in NZ (as I was for the last two weeks) I drive my car in any weather rain or shine (no snow in Auckland).

Parental guidance is required if you read the next sentence.

I even drive it on loose gravel roads. In April we happily covered 60kms at quite good speeds, with the diff light blinking away as the C4 brain struggled to get the power down.

I too drive it in the rain - it's Holland, you know. But I'm careful though. Did spin it once when doing a corner being too heavy on the right-most pedal. My car sits outside all the time, so it'll get wet anyway. Better take it for a drive so that it gets warm and dry again.

Hi,
I actually bought my 964 especially for the rain and general rubbish winters in the UK. I'd had enough of riding my motorcycles in all weathers for the last 16 years and decided I needed a nice comfy car for the crap weather.

I have found I use the bike a bit less than I'd expected, even when the weather is good. But as far as I'm concerned my 964 is my bad weather vehicle - no point keeping it for the fair weather, because that's what I have a bike for.

Proving once and for all that everything is relative, I'm not sure that I've ever heard a 911 described as a "nice comfy car"

My wife's description focuses on the harshness of the suspension (aka communicative chassis) the noise level (aka blissful music) and the whoa shoot of the acceleration (aka whoa shoot!).

At least the roads in Surrey are somewhat better than Michigan rut-tracks!

I appreciate everyone's input on this subject. I've taken all suggestions to heart (as you can tell from earlier posts). I value everyone's point of view. (Yes, even you Christer... I'll get used to your sense of humor!) I've decided to say "The heck with it" and drive it in the rain for the next few days... I need to try out my Zymol kit that I just bought anyway. I never worried about this in my old 77' but then it wasn't in the shape as the one I have now.

Strange thing though... now I seem to have developed a facial tick. What gives?

Question

Okay... here's a weird one. My car is usually bright and shiny... pretty as can be. Last Saturday, it was cold and crisp in the Pacific Northwest and I took a drive out to a friend's house. He had just finished giving his lawn a mow when I pulled up. We got to talking and the car came up in conversation... as we both looked back at her, I was in shock!...

Static electricity was playing games... his dry lawn shavings became attracted to my car in clumps and stuck to the side of the car!!! I know that folks are attracted to Porsches, but lawn grass? That's all I need. Being accused of turning Mother Earth into a lover of machines that destroy her. Porschecide?

Anyways... made for a furry look. Any ideas on removing static electricity from a car so it REPELS dust, etc.??

WoW - now Bob got an Idea who's time has come!
Something that you put on the car to repell dust.

Bob, if anyone has the formula for this we'll start a Web based business that will make "Loose 40 lbs Fast" Mary Kay and Amazon look like childs play. Sign me up for a billion shares.
And I assume this will also repel rain and rock chips If you order the Super Sized All option Kit at only $49.95 .....

We'll sell it multi-level, of course.

Cool

I'm on two minds on this. Split personality together with my OCD? Hate to get my C4 dirty but love how she handles in the wet! Decisions, decisions..... Invariably the sheer thrill of driving her under such conditions (with minimal traffic of course) wins out.

Don't have snow to contend with but does rain kind of heavy. Try visibility up to three feet. Park her then.....

cheers,
Kris

LOL - I have one of those - looks like I just found out what causes it - driving in the rain (or the thought of)!

I think you are on the way to breaking your obsessive behaviour. I perhaps forgot to mention that you develop others - the one I have is that I can't stop taking my wallet out of my pocket and spending money on the car. A pretty common affliction I guess.

Mine is a weekend car, and I try if possible not to drive it in the rain. Still, you can't always win and I often have got caught in it.

On a related note, I am thinking of taking the 964 on a skiing trip early next year. I am going to the French Alps. Anyone think its a bad idea?

I try to drive mine as much as I can. Rain or no rain. Only live life once (I think , at least I can't remember the previous one)...
