Absolutely - it is jaded but not turning a different colour - just slightly 'dull'.

Anyway, it was not my intention to stop your fun (as if I could) - I just thought maybe you had mixed my car up with Tony Taylor's (who admits his is a bit pink). So no worries, by all means continue but it would be a bit like me repeatedly taking the **** out of Dave K for having a yellow car (his is white). Actually, that might not be such a bad idea....

John, have you found out what the situation is with your car after you graceful pirouette through the traffic? Is it just the wheel that has been damaged?

Dave, did you get any actual damage to your front lip from the 'really good' roads round Brent Cross? You mentioned that you had hit the deck the night we met up with Randall...

No - no damage as far as I can see. Just scuffed the underneath which I think had been done before anyway. I am fairly careful now and haven't scraped at all in the last few weeks whereas I did several times in the first 2 weeks after getting the suspension.

As far as having a yellow car is concerned - I actually like yellow cars! Sadly, I think white is less desirable than any other colour you can think of (except pink obviously) so I'm not sure you can make it worse.

Dave

I don't think that white is as bad as you say. Maybe some funky decals would be the order of the day if you feel strongly about it? (Speak to Jeff Curtis!).

Hey...I love white as color for the 911! Seriously, I would have never considered it as a color to choose if were buying a new one. However, having had my white cabrio for a year and a half, I would go with white again. The lines come out beautifully with the black top--looks a bit speedsterish as the black makes the top appear smaller and lower contrasted with the white--and I can drive the car for hundreds of miles and still look fresh and clean. A dark blue metallic car I had previously was dirty as soon as I turned the hose off. Also, small blemishes on the white car are virtually undectable. I know that silver cars also have this characteristic, but in my opinion they do not look as clean and fresh in blazing sunlight unless the paint is really immaculate. So...don't knock white It's a great color (or is it a color at all?) and it has the added bonus of being the most visible color in rainy and grey weather. Something I can appreciate as I also have a platinum colored car which is pretty much stealth in grey weather.

I should probably clarify.... I think my car looks pretty good in white (in fact, I have the same opinion as you - I wouldn't choose it from new but now I've got it, I do think it suits the car). All I really meant from my earlier comment is that it is the least desirable colour. White cars are usually a bit cheaper than "popular" colours.

Its funny, many people in the US absolutely love white 911s, for some reason it seems the 993 in particular. Whereas in the UK, when did you last see a white 993? (actually, there is one for sale on ebay uk at the moment, but apart from that...)

Good point - proves how tastes change. I've seen loads of white 964s so people did want them 10 years ago. But I've never seen a white 993 or 996.

I always think white cars look good in certain settings, e.g. cruising the street in L.A. or parked up beside the palms in Florida.
I'm not usually that fond of them but I remember seeing a white 964 in city traffic some time ago. It was very striking and just the thing for an extrovert.

Here's an idea using the rear reflector. I know its primary use is for rear foglights. I don't know if the position would contradict the reason of having a third brake light but it doesn't require any 'drilling'! <img src="http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads/center_lights.JPG" alt=" - " />

Just the thing for an extrovert? How about red Better yet, yellow, metallic coral/pink, purple, flamingo gold (remember?), and so on. Actually, I always found white to be a classic (read "mild and conservative") choice. However, what I have found in my white convertible (w/ black interior) is that people on the road really take to it. It has a bit of a glamorous air to it. In Illinois, where I live, people smile, give compliments, let me in traffic, and so on. It seems to me that while I did get a lot of compliments on my platinum 84 Targa (drove it for 11 years!), people seemed to find it less fun a car than the white 964 convertible.

Yes, 'glamour', I think that's the word I was looking for.

So what about actual prices? I have not looked around but have been quoted for an official Porsche item at £217.33 plus VAT and max 3 hours to install. Thoughts?

Schubee - while I like the looks of having the lamps in the center section be brake lights, I would guess that legally, they would not pass for the third light. The idea of the third light was to provide a light closer to eye level of the following driver. Given that some of us have lowered our cars, I would want that third light as high as possible for my own protection. Now, I think having the center section lights AND the higher mounted third light would be good. Give those cell-phoning, latte-swilling, newspaper-reading ******** following me a bit more notice that I am slowing or stopping. I have very little faith in my fellow drivers in the WashDC area.

Scupper... You should see them in Maryland... They are even worse! (I moved from the NoVa area 1 year ago.) The short highway entry ramps up here don't help the situation either. It's good to have the availablity of the quick acceleration and braking of the Porsche!
