3rd brake light
Searched the archives and found some info on the fitting of and problems with the light illuminating the rear shelf at night.
Anyone in the UK know where to get one and at what price?
cheers!

I got mine from Stuttgart Connection.
It does illuminate the area above the rear seats, but it's not a problem. In fact, it's a handy reminder that it's working.
I prefer this design to the Porsche one as it's smoother and blends in to the existing lines, I feel.
Don't have a picture to hand, I'm afraid.
Oh, hang on - this might work...

Thanks John, although it is not too clear on this size photo. Your recommendation is good enough for me. How is it actually fitted? I am getting some rust sorted in the rear screen area soon, so thought this might be an idea to do at the same time as screens are coming out etc...

Hi Christer,
You as well wrt the rust on the rear screen. It's not the bottom right corner is it? Do you mind me asking who will the do the work and the deal you've done?
Taj.

Hi Christer,
I stopped mine from illuminating the parcel shelf by using some sun-strip I bought from Halfords, all for the princely sum of £6. cut to size of course.

I like the sunstrip idea - I'll give that a try myself!
Christer, my TBL is 'glued' with an adhesive supplied with the part. If get the chance, I'll take a better picture of it this evening. It is just a better shape, I feel, than the 'genuine' item. Stuttgart con. supplied it ready-painted. You have to drill (aarrgghhh) a small hole above the rear window to feed the wire through. Then you route it through the roof lining, behind the rear panel and into the engine compartment to link up with the brake-light.

Thanks for your replies. I don't fancy drilling a hole so maybe a spoiler mounted light then? Anyone have one of those hoops on their spoilers?
John, I think it is Tony that has the pink car. Mine is definitely still red - I will post some pics another time. Obviously I don't mind the constant 'pink' comments but just wanted to clarify so that you don't spend too much time on it unnecessarily. It would be funny if my car had been Guards Red originally but had now turned pink, you see.

Here's a picture I took just a minute ago.
The hole (although it hurts to make it) is really no big deal. It's very small and would be very easily filled should the need ever arise. I made sure it was well rustproofed, of course.

Christer,
Search the PCGB forum, Ken chambers has pictures of the "hoop" type fitted to his Targa there.
I'm sure he'll be able to fill you in on any details.
regards

That's right, but it mounts on the engine-lid rather than the spoiler so, I presume, some drilling is still the order of the day.
