Post 964 power hood latch

There is a 964 power hood latch for sale on E-bay. I had never heard of this and was wondering how common it is? Not that I am looking for any more complicated mechanisms to control very simple things. BTW, it has a 964 part#.

That's exactly what it is, and I do not find any other references to it, not on Pelican Parts at all.

Questions: how does it connect to the electrical system, where might the operating switch be, has anyone retrofitted one?

That is a standard hood latch the electrical connection is for the luggage compartment light.

You could make that unit electrically operated if you are willing to go through a lot of work. You can always retrofit a release motor from a 944 or 928 rear hatch to a cable that would be pulled by the motor and install a switch to operate it but it really seems like more work than it is worth.
