Post Driver's side wiper missing areas

I've finally fixed all the other little problems with my baby and I'm down to wondering why the driver's side wiper doesn't wipe when it's wiping low in front of the driver. I've used both the wiper replacements from Advance Auto Parts and from the dealer, and both seem to lack the flexibility required to wrap tightly around the window. Am I missing something or is this just a bit of character that I can now learn to love (like hot air blowing up through the center console... *grin*)

Dear Hunter,
I think you must be using the wrong wiper assembly. I do not have this problem. I know what you are talking about but mine wraps nicely. I use the Bosch wiper assemblies recommended for the 964. Now I do live in Switzerland so there may be a difference to what is available in the USA.

PS: You can fix the hot air issue. 1/. Turn the heating off by turning the temp control **** to the blue dot position. To confirm then go to the rear of the luggage compartment and remove the black cover. You will see two black valve motors with an arm on each. Pop off the arm and turn the motor to the full cold position. This is the position that stops hot air coming inside. Then fix the motors at your leisure.

Actually the problem is that the wiper in the park position is in a very curved part of the windscreen. Over a surprisingly short time the wiper blade gets a "permanent set" from this curve and misses part of the screen.

I still haven't found the twin spring wiper arms John M recommended.

Hunter, I have the same problem with my C2 despite replacing the blades and arms. I've given up and use Rain X now, so I don't even really use the wipers that much any more.

I have the same problem on my C4. I have replaced the wiper arms twice in hopes of fixing it and now have just learned to live with it.

Or...you could get those really 'cool' neon wiper blade spoilers, like the import cars use. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

Adrian,
The arms look right. The angle of the arm seems to be about what I'd need. It's more that the wiper "head" itself just doesn't have the flex to get around the bend on the side of the windshield when it is approaching or actually in parked position. One of the things I was actually wondering is if the current Bosche wipers for the "911" are not what I need for my gracefully aging 964. =)

As for the center console warm air, I'm afraid I wasn't clear enough. I meant air coming from the area around the parking brake that breaths warm sometimes (especially when the sunroof is open). At first I thought I had a leak from some huge unknown hose running along the center of the car (don't laugh please *grin*, I was new). But then I found out that it's just a feature of the aerodynamics of the car. =)

On a side note I don't think you can be thanked enough for adding your experience to this forum. I know that I was overjoyed after buying this car to find I had joined a family too. So... Thanks again. P.S. That goes for everyone else here too.

Have any of you tried ringing you local specialist and ask them? I did have this problem when I bought some new wiper blades from type-911, but when I had my car serviced, it came back with the correct blades fitted.

There's another potential source of hot air coming from the hood [bonnet] latch on LHD cars: the large tube that delivers hot air could have a hole in it, caused by the hood[bonnet] latch cable abrading through it. I can tell you, with a certain amount of confidence, that it is a b*tch of a job to install the new one. So I paid my mechanic to do it. But I cut a bit of plastic to wrap around the heater tube at the point where the cable bears on it, to be a sacrificial wear point.

Because if I remember correctly. It should be an 11, at least it was orignially, inch blade but the smallest you can get in the states is 13 inches.
