Red face Body Parts Needed for a Happy Halloween!

Looking for a pair of front fenders, a hood, front bumper cover w/black plastic grill, both black plastic skirt pieces (under front bumper cover), rocker and sail panel (right side) and a headlight bucket mechanism/beauty ring.

Also need a right rear bumper piece, the part that's notched for the tailpipe, and any associated brackets underneath. A new tail light will be needed (right hand side), prefer RED -not- pink, but slightly faded is good, as it will match what I have now.

All must be in great shape, no prior bodywork or repaint, chips/dings okay, rust NOT okay.

Prefer Grand Prix white if possible.

If you have ANY of the above mentioned parts, please let me know, I could use one heckuva deal right now...I'm sure I don't have to explain.

Yup, I had an "oopsie" - but don't really want to talk about it...I'm thinking I'll be ready to provide the gory details someday, but for now...I'm just "stewing".

Jeff,

Check with Van Zweeden Porsche Specialists in Holland, they should be able to sort you out with either original 2nd hand parts or new fiberglass lightweight copies. They ship worldwide at reasonable rates.

Jeff,

Have you stopped to think what a GREAT Halloween prop your car would make on your front lawn?

FYI, we haven't had time to tear my engine down, so I still don't know the extent of the damage.

Good luck with the part search!

Almost forgot, Jeff.

My first comment needed a

Also, my friend, don't bother stewing. It's just not worth the stress, and as you've stated recently, it's just a car.

Relax, have a beer, and be thankful you weren't injured. That's the most important thing...

Jeff, which "right hand side"? Dumb question but do you mean the right hand side when you are standing facing the rear (US drivers side) or the right hand side when you are standing facing the front (US passengers side)? Does that make sense?

Reason being I've an OK condition drivers side tail light and a poorer condition passengers side tail light sitting on a shelf in my garage that you are welcome to for nowt (which is the North of England way of saying "free", except in Yorkshire where you don't get "ouwt for nowt", but thats a long story)........

Right hand side is always from the driver's seat perspective. I always had a problem with this until it dawned on me that it is similar to my right hand. It is always my right hand whether you are looking at me from the front or the back. Now substitute the car for "me" and put your brain in the driver seat. This makes sense, right?

Makes sense and while I've learnt something, unfortunately for Jeff that rear tail light is the poorer of the two.

Thanks for the kind words...and Rich, you know me well enough to know that you don't have to -or- me when joking around - that is actually a pretty good idea!

...do I need to drizzle fake blood all over it and put a stuffed/headless driver's suit in it? That would be pretty damned morbid...but cool!!

I'm taking it in stride at the moment, but have been known to go through bouts of disappointment. The way it happened is just insane...still in total disbelief...would like to think I could've avoided it.

- like maybe staying HOME that day!

It'll be fine, it's all cosmetic, no structural damage...although a new quarter will be required - out comes the cutting torch!

Horst, I remember your VanZweeden story...might steer clear of them. It was nice to see you and Pat this weekend, wish it was under more than favorable circumstances.

I have found a tailight, bumper cover piece, headlight mechanism/ring/bulb and sail panel. All I need is a good hood and two fenders. A NEW door and quarter panel is going on.

Someone suggested I get Turbo fenders and have a Turbo quarter welded on...that's NOT what I'm going to do. I want a "perfect" car, in original condition...and am paying TOP dollar to have it done.

It seems I may now have one of those cars that will be forever marked a "lemon"...after all, it has now been wrecked...but I assure you, with who will be working on it, I'd be inclined to argue that he'll do a better job than the factory!

Anyone know where I can find front fenders in excellent condition?? I'm guessing I'll have to buy a NEW front bumper cover, as I'm sure most of them out there need work or were damaged in a front-ender.

Jeff - sorry to hear about your accident. The Porsche dealership that services my car uses Oklahoma Foreign ( http://www.oklahomaforeign.com ) to source used Porsche parts for customer cars and has been very pleased with them. We recently used them for an intake manifold piece for my car (over $1,000 new from Porsche, $350 from Oklahoma Foreign, in perfect operating condition). [no affiliation with Oklahoma Foreign]

Good luck!

I would use caution with Oklahoma Foreign (OF).

A while back I had a nasty incident which destroyed both driver's side wheels. I called around, and OF told me they had the wheels I wanted. A few days after ordering them, the sales guy (don't recall his name) called and told me that the didn't have the rear wheel after all, that he had tried to call me before he shipped the front wheel (funny, my Caller ID didn't have his number on it), and the front wheel was on the way.

So I was left scrambling for a rear wheel in good/excellent condition. I found one, but that's not the whole story. When the front wheel arrived from OF, it was in poor condition. The alloy was scratched up and discolored, far from the condition the sales guy told me it would be. Also, after looking at it for a while, I noticed something odd about it. I placed it on the garage floor and rolled it a few feet. The wheel was BENT!

The next day I called OF, told sales guy the wheel was damaged, and I was sending it back. He said OK.

A week later he called me, wondering what to do with the wheel. I reminded him that I'd sent it back to him. His response: his parts guy would NEVER send a wheel like that, so sales guy assumed it was one of the ddestroyed wheels off my car (FYI, the destroyed wheels were disposed of through my local shop). After telling him the error of his ways, he promised to refund the money to my credit card. Weeks went by, and still no credit. I finally had to contact the credit card company to resolve the issue, which they did.

That's the long of it. The short of it: I'll NEVER, repeat NEVER, do business with OF again!

Wow Rich, you didn't tell me about that one.

I'll still give them a try, after all, there's not a lot of 964 stuff out there ya know.

If worse comes to worse, guess I'll have to go with new stuff...I have my $100 certificates from the PCA!

Has anybody dealt with LA Porsche Dismantlers?? It would cost a mint to ship the parts, but then...I need 'em.

Bad news today, the body guy doesn't want to be that flexible in "comping" some of the prep work I do in order to gain the services of a COMPLETE repaint...so it looks like more "bling-bling" out of the pocket.

Anybody want to donate to the "SMACK Rocket" charity fund?

Aw heck, you don't need whole repaint.

Ya still got those little polka dots, don't ya? Put those all over and no one will ever notice if the paint doesn't match!
