Post Platinum Porsche of Sloatsburg, NY

Ordered a work shop manual from Platinum Porsche for my 1990 C4. They ran an add in the Rennlist Classified " shop closing everything must go " manuals available for various models. Check sent prior to Xmas, no manuals received. E-mailed Platinum a couple of times and received responses to the effect UPS must be at a stand still, I'll have them check into it. I'm begining to feel I'm getting the run around. Anyone have a similar experience with Platinum Porsche. If contemplating dealing with them be advised.

Me too! Me Too! Saw his ad on the Northeast Region PCA web site classifieds for the 1990 manual - for free - he wanted $8 for postage, which I sent Dec 16th. Said his shop was getting rid of old manuals for new ones. I have sent two follow up messages with no responses. Me thinks we've been ripped!

I'll try an e-mail again, but if no luck I'll file a complaint with the US Postal Service as I sent a personal check via mail. I think they call it mail fraud. Let me know if you have any success.

A month has gone by with no work shop manual received. Now unable to contact Platinum Porsche by e-mail as of today. Looks like I've been scammed. They still are advertising in the Rennlist Classified SO BUYERS BEWARE. I'm one of their unsatisfied customers. US Postal Inspector is sending me paperwork for filing a complaint. If anyone else out there think they also have been scammed please PM me. It might be helpful for filing the complaint.

It looks like I have joined the Platinum Porsche club! I sent a money order to Gene Mottola at PP for a 1990 shop manual 30 days ago....
I have since bought the same on CD.

I wonder if any Rennlister's are nearby Sloatsburg, NY and near 11 Apple St. in particular. They may be able to give us a heads up if Platinum Porsche really did exist and if Gene Mottola is a real person. I'm waiting on the paperwork from US Postal Service for the complaint, don't know if it will do any good on resolving the situation but it will make me feel better.

We will try the back up e-mail address to contact Mr. Mottola and see what happens. Received complaint form from US Postal Inspector, it's filled out and ready to be sent. It does state that a Federal Trade Commission rule mandates fulfillment within 30 days when a delivery time is not specified. I'll have to wait a few more days before I send it in. If anyone needs the form just call your local US Postal Inspector and they will send form right out, it also is available for download off their web site. I hope Mr. Mottola is on the up and up but things sure smell fishy.

The New York Secretary of State has no business registered as "Platinum Porsche" or for "Gene Mottola" (that I could find.) The Sloatsburg Chamber of Commerce also does not list them. I would suggest contacting someone in the Hudson Valley chapter of the PCA to see if they know of Gene or any recently closed Porsche service centers.

Sorry, in my haste to tell you that there was a message from Platinum in the classifieds section, I failed to see that you've already seen it!

I e-mailed them at the back up e-mail address and got a response. Mr.Romer, apparently Mr.Mottola's business associate or co-conspirator ,as the case may be ,said he would e-mail me later in the day with the UPS tracking No. and he also stated if I have received a manual already keep it and I'll have two. Well no follow up e-mail with tracking info received just as I suspected. But if by some luck I do receive two manuals, the extra will go to first Rennlister who contacts me for free. This little mission isn't about the $30 I probably lost, but to maintain the integrity of those who advertise on the Rennlist web site. I'll also try a follow up with the Hudson Valley PCA.

Guess what showed up in my mail last night! I ordered a 1990 C2 shop manual, 7 volumes, from Gene in early Dec. The manual is exactly as described. I don't know why it took so long; there was not a ship date on the container.

I had a fellow PCA member check out Platinum Porsche at 11 Apple St. in Sloatsburg, NY and this is what he found:
It's nothing but a small house on an 8' wide back street. There is a small barn/garage in the rear with a couple of mini vans parked around it, but nothing that resembles a business.

Well I'll keeping watching my mail, sounds like your about the only satisfied customer so far.

Well, I just wrote off the $8.00 check I wrote Gene baby for the 964 manual. I sent an email this morning to the old AOL address, the new AOL address and the temporary email address noted above. Said that unless I receive notification that he is mailing or has mailed the manual, I would file a claim with the US Postmaster General for mail fraud.

Gene's response received two hours later: "Do it, Chuck". This guy is a real slime and continues to run classifieds on Rennlist and PCA Northeast classifieds. Beware!
