I generally wedge my drink in the door pockets next to the speakers!

I don't have them, but these <a href="http://forums.rennlist.com/cgi-bin/rennforums/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=3&t=005180&p=" target="_blank">VW cupholders</a> seem to be the cheapest and possibly most elegant solution. But pay attention to <a href="http://forums.rennlist.com/cgi-bin/rennforums/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=3&t=005279&p=" target="_blank">this saftey suggestion.</a>

I have found a good cup holder for my 964. Its from Griots Garage.

<a href="http://www.griotsgarage.com/search.jsp?searchtext=cup+holder" target="_blank">http://www.griotsgarage.com/search.jsp?searchtext=cup+holder</a>

I have it mounted on the center console just to the right of the stick shift lever in the passenger footwell. I only use a certain size cup in it and have carefully placed the cup holder so that my cup top is touching the knee bar of the dash.

If you want, I can try to take a picture and post it.

I put in a griots cup holder on the right side of the console, in the passengers foot well. The forward screw is in the side of the console, and the aft screw is thru the access cover. It folds nicely when not in use.

I've got a pretty nice setup on my Supercup. It's a bicycle water bottle basket mounted to the roll cage with a long straw. Works great! Seriously though, I just ordered the Passat holder for the 964. My wife is going to be thrilled! <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

FREE GIVE AWAY -

I have a double cup holder that mounts behind the parking brake in the catch-all bin to give away free to the first person emailing me. It came with the car when I purchased it last October. It the kind that opens up and has a cork bottom. I think I saw it selling for about $80 or $90 new, in one of the catalogs.

I replaced it with one of Bird Industries leather center arm rests - - - with the cup holder option inside the storage compartment.

Agreed!!

As an European, I see cup holders as one of the most cretin inventions of recent.

Cars are for being driven in, not eating in!

Hi Riccardo,
That is a fairly shocking position coming from the country that invented dining in cars! If you ever make a visit to the Rolls-Royce factory in Crewe, you'll see that nice little picnic tables, folding from the back of the front seats, have been a feature of the Rolls-Royce for more than half a century!
Grey Poupon I presume?

Jeff,

Ahhh... but the truth is, I am Italian. Ever seen a Cinquecento? Its those little cars the size of a standard SUV's engine, must have been thoroughly complicated to eat inside those.

Good point about the Rollers, but then again they must have been so boring to drive in that a pinci on the move was a necessity.

The best and most commonly used cup holder is called a table. It something you sit at when eating or drinking, breakfast for example.

Cars, on the other hand, are machines designed to be driven, either for recreation or transport. The contolling of the aforementioned car, especially a high powered sports version, often requires a reasonable degree of co-ordination and concentration....something which may be at odds with your desire to consume beverages during your driveing experience...

..I'll stop now, my coffee is getting cold!...
