Talking Can I join your club now, please?

Well, I bought the damn thing. (Some of you may remember the saga of a nervous Scottish 912 owner swimming in the murky waters of 964 purchase, asking for advice from everybody and anybody)

So, Slate Grey over Linen Leather 964 C4 G663HFS is now crouching on my drive. I mentioned in my post that it was a bit battered, but I guess that was being a bit pessimistic. Drop dead beautiful, more like. The D90's do need some loving, but otherwise its just fine: it just needed a good valet (the seller wasn't a natural salesman to say the least)

An excellent PPI from Glenvarigill OPC in Edinburgh (£100 including cleaning the engine to look for leaks) revealed lots of minor stuff - nice easy fixes - and very minor oil leaks around the Cylinder bases (confirming that the engine was indeed made by Porsche!)

As soon as we bought it, we had to drive 250 miles to put my Citroen 2CV in storage. As my wife refuses to drive the 2CV on grounds of safety,(!), I got to spend the next 3 hours watching my new car being driven by someone else!(29bhp vs 250!) On the plus side, she says I got 85mph quite a few times!
Driving back, I have finally realised what all the fuss is about (cue knowing smiles from readers)-everything is just right, right down to the way the seats adjust. Perfection.
So I have no plans to improve on that perfection just now.....apart from a few wee holes in the airbox maybe? but...does anyone agree that this may shorten the effective life of the engine? (bigger bangs=more wear and tear)

Looking forward to discussing all things 964 (that is, ask lots of questions)
Johnny

Congrats on your new toy.
Must be wonderful to drive it around the country roads over there.
Enjoy...

Congratulations on your purchase Johnny!

And welcome to the recently formed (2 minutes ago!) 964/2CV Owners Club aka 'the sublime to the ridiculous' I never thought I'd come across somebody with my 'stable' of vehicles!

But 85mph!? Has yours been modified by ECAS in Staffordshire, or is that the 'downhill with wind behind slipstreaming a juggernaut' run?

Re. drilling holes air box: I've done it. Result - definate fantastic noise increase under load accelerating, probable no power increase, definate no extra engine wear.

Best regards

Wink

Check out the stable below.....

Actually, thinking about it - the Nova needs an MOT in the next few days....like it's gonna pass...

Mind you that's an excellent excuse to pick up something else!!

Welcome to the world of 964 ownership, we're always glad to have another!

Drill the airbox...you won't regret it.
