Versatility of a 964
So what's the largest/strangest thing(s) you have carried in your 964 ?
This question occured to me as I bought some decking tiles at the weekend and as getting them delivered would have delayed me, tried to get then in the car. Yep, 36 x 500mm square decking tiles will fit. However, my g/f didn't like them so I had to take them back and get 28 x 2400mm long decking planks instead. Those fitted as well, but only with the roof down.
Flatpack furniture, shrubs and my 86 year old mother and 82 year old aunt (in the back seat) have all been carried comfortably. The hardest fit was when I bought a set of 17" wheels with tyres. They took some work to get in.
So have any of you guys tested the versatility of your 964 ?
Regards
Kismet

Not personally but the guy who bought my previous C4 goes skiing a couple of times per year with a very large Thule type box on the roof. With good winter tyres and the box on the roof he goes further and higher than any other conventional car

I regularly drive my three kids around, including to school and kindergarten. My two-and-a-bit-year-old son especially loves the car: the back seat is cosy and warm, and he likes the noise.
I get a few funny looks now and then when three small children hop out, but 95% of the time the Porsche is just as practical as the Honda Odyssey we also run. It's the ultimate daily driver.

Multi-function HP printer/fax/copier/scanner.
Box would not fit through the door aperture, but with the targa top removed it slid into the passenger seat from above with an edge remaining above the windshield.

Ok. Do NOT laugh at me. I went to pick up some shrubs for my home. I had the bonnet filled. Back seat filled to the roof and floor. Also, passenger seat and floor. I still have no clue how I got all those plants in the car. Oh and a passenger as well.
I had a bunch of people standing around wondering how I would squeeze all that in. Never made a mess at all. WOOT!!!!

Ok, so not my current 964, but I got a tumble drier into the passenger seat of my old 3.2 ! I could only use 1st and 2nd gear is the machine was fouling the gear ****. I got some very strange looks drivng through central London.
I've also had 3 6-foot plus rugby players as passengers plus kit - all got in no problem.

This is a great thread! Yes, I've used mine for bringing large purchases home from the hardware store, rather than going home to switch to the M-Class SUV. I've had planks and stuff sticking out the sunroof and recieved major looks from passersby (Not as many as if Id had a tumble drier though, LOL!)
I also drive my 3 kids around in the Porsche daily and having a 2 and a bit year old little boy I really empathised with adwriters post:
One day leaving the Day Care a mother getting out of her 36-wheel, super massive van/people carrier equipped to cross arctic tundra (with "soccer mum" stickers, the full bit), turns to me and says, "THATS a nice family car!" to which I quipped, "yes, and the more kids you have - the more practical it becomes!" (I think it was actually a Porsche advertising slogan many moons ago, so I cant take full credit!)

Also three kids here, 8,6 and 4. I use the promise of the Porsche ride to school as reward for good behaviour. Works most of the time ....okay, it works sometimes

I managed 2 children (4 months and 2), dog (German pointer) wife and pushchair. Thankfully only a short trip, but my wife refuses to travel in the back again (child no.2 and dog in front).

Last year I managed 3 sets of golf clubs(carry bags) & three adults in the car. Very tight squeeze! 2 sets in the front between my brothers legs & one across the back with the poor sole sitting there - I had to have the drivers seat moved forward some way, which was not great for the 100 or so mile trip we made!!
The other week I had a 6ft venetian blind sticking out of the sun roof!!

On track weekends - 3 wheels/tires in the back and 1 in the passenger seat with small cooler, helmet, chair, tools, etc. Always get the "can you really get another set of wheels in the car?"
